My 600-lb Life Season 8 Episode 2 Recap:

39-year-old Lindsey Witte, who hails from Iowa and has a staggering weight that exceeds 600 pounds, is the subject of episode 2, titled, ‘Lindey’s Story’. TLC describes the episode as: “Lindsey Witte had it all: a white picket fence, a loving husband, and a great job. But now her food addiction is threatening to ruin everything. As she embarks on a weight loss journey to save her life, it is questioned whether her husband is support or an addict himself.”

Lindsey, after finally gathering the courage to embark on a challenging weight-loss journey, meets bariatric surgeon Dr. Younan Nowzaradan aka Dr. Now. She wants to get back on track and lead a healthy life. After a horrifying experience when she faced a near-death incident during her sleep due to obesity complications, she decided that enough is enough. She says: “With how bad my body is now, I feel like it’s a miracle I still wake up in the morning. My weight’s gotten to the point where I feel like I’m falling apart and I’m in constant pain.”

Even her husband Paul is frustrated with Lindsey’s health complications and heavyweight. He expresses his feelings saying in a voiceover: “Lindsey’s been struggling with a diet a little bit and when I try to help her she doesn’t like that, so we’re fighting a lot and I’m just trying to realize what needs to happen.”

Dr. Now prescribes Lindsey a strict, low-calorie diet so that he can get her ready for her gastric sleeve surgery. However, she still struggles to keep up with her routine. The reality star says: “This is so hard. If I’m gonna stick to the calorie limit I’m trying to stay at then that’s the last bit of food I can have today. So the only thing I can think of is just to go to bed and try and sleep off the hunger pains.”

But as the episode progresses, we see that Lindsey eventually finds her motivation and with great difficulty, manages to follow Dr. Now’s diet plan. Slowly, she ends up losing 200 pounds before her surgery. She also joins the gym to keep a check on her progress. She has also created a Facebook group, “Second Chance Success – The Real Lindsey Witte”, which is frequently updated with her latest developments — with fans motivating her to continue on her journey.
