Ahiru no Sora Episode 24 Recap

In the 24th episode, Mokichi finally realizes that he must not let his insecurities bring him down and decides to join the basketball team. He shows up at the court, apologizes for lying about his medical conditions, and politely asks if he can now play with them. While the rest of the team almost agrees and allows him, Sora, who always wanted to play with him, has tough a time believing him now. Sora openly claims that he cannot trust him anymore and asks him to step in the court to prove how much he still wants to play. Determined to pursue his passion for the sport, Mokichi accepts the challenge and a match between the two boys begins.

During the initial moments of the game, both of them turn out to be equally good but Mokichi’s stamina disables him from keeping up. Even so, he refuses to give up and goes on playing. All the players of the team realize that even though he’s not winning against Sora, he’s still going beyond his limits to be a part of the team. Much later, despite being really tired, Mokichi steps up his game and goes above and beyond what is expected from him. He even ends up defeating Sora and with this, Sora is forced to accept that he truly deserves to be on the team. Sora later even tries to explain that even after Mikichi lied to them, he still wanted to play with him. He was just having a hard time trusting him again.

In the meantime, Madoka goes to the hospital to Yuka and simply assumes that there’s nothing wrong with her. When she leaves her room, the nurse who takes of Yuka tells her that Madoka is suffering from a serious illness. The episode does not reveal what’s wrong with but from the looks of it, she probably has cancer and has told no one about it till now. Back at the school, apart from playing basketball, the members of the team also start focusing on their grades to later be eligible to play for the school.
