Alone Season 8 Episode 5 Recap

The fifth episode, titled ‘The Buck,’ kicked off with eight survivalists. In the episode, we find Michelle cooped up in her resilient shelter suffering from chest pains. She had previously consumed a patch of cow parsnip that ultimately gave her food poisoning after a failed attempt at securing fish. The considerable dip in her health coaxed her to tap out of the show.

Moreover, the fish basket Michelle had spread underwater was pulled out by another contestant, further slimming her chances of surviving the competition. The second one who tapped out was Matt; his persisting negativity became the reason he chose to quit. His frustration could be noticed from the moment he found a fault in his shelter, which added to the underlying issues he had been facing. Matt also failed at procuring adequate food and instead returned with a couple of hornet stings.

As the wilderness took its toll on some, the others showed no sign of struggle, especially Clay, who seemed to have settled in pretty comfortably. His skill, coupled with his unyielding mindset, got him through 23 days without any major hiccup. Before the scene cut off to Biko, we saw him shoot an arrow at a buck. Coming back, Biko was a bit alarmed when he realized that he has already lost 35 pounds, and now, his only hope is his newly-constructed fish basket. Lastly, Nate created a bed using logs and ropes, hoping to alleviate his back issues.
