In the second episode of ‘American Ninja Warrior’ season 13, titled ‘Qualifiers 3,’ we see two new obstacles called Air Surfer and Pretzel Twists that bewilder the ninjas as well as viewers. As Hector Gomez becomes the first person to step up, he effortlessly makes it to the Air Surfer before falling. Next up is Olympian KC Boutiette, who follows Hector’s footsteps throughout the course, falling on the fifth obstacle. We then see another veteran Brandon Mears, who quickly succumbs to the balance obstacles. As some fail to unleash their highest potential, others, like fifteen-year-old Owen Dyer, move past the fifth obstacle and make it to the Warped Walls becoming the first finisher of the night.
Moving ahead, we see Alyssa Varsalona, who has playfully challenged her husband to compete with her in the show. She fell on Pretzel Twists, and another ninja, Brad Giles, succumbed to the same obstacle. The next one is Bryce Buckland running the race as a tribute to his father, who died of cancer in 2020. But viewers are stunned when Brett Hernandez Strong, a boy scout who dreamed of becoming a pro baseball player, makes it to the Mega Warped Wall, where he hits the buzzer and wins ten thousand dollars. The next ninja is Charity LeBlanc, a fitness and makeup blogger trying her luck in the game, But her jump falls short of reaching the next obstacle as she gives out on Pretzel Twists.
Two buddies named Grant McCartney, the island ninja, and Nick Hanson, the Eskimo ninja, show up together to participate and support each other. Each one of them ends up falling on Air Surfer. The last ninja of the night is Vance Walker, a two-time champion on American Ninja Warriors Junior, who makes it to the Mega Warped Wall and presses the buzzer.
