How did Andrew McCarthy earn his money and wealth?
Andrew McCarthy is popularly known as an American actor, director, travel writer and television director. He is primarily known for playing the roles in 1980s films like as St. Elmo’s Fire, Pretty in Pink, Less Than Zero. He is ranked number #40 on VH1’s 100 Greatest Teen Stars of all-time list. He is also known for his work as a director on the Emmy Award-winning series, Orange Is the New Black. He was born in Westfield, New Jersey, but moved to Bernardsville, New Jersey, as a teenager and attended the Pingry School. For some part of a year, he also attended the town’s public school, Bernards High School.
McCarthy began his acting career from his breakout role for the 1983 comedy film Class. Despite his interest, he became a member of the 80s Hollywood group of young actors- “Brat Pack”. In 2008, he appeared in the NBC television series ‘Lipstick Jungle’ as a billionaire, and also played a minor role in The Spiderwick Chronicles.
Recently, McCarthy directed many episodes of the popular CW television series, including Gossip Girl and Touch of Eva in the fourth season. Consequently, in 2010 and 2011, he was seen in the hit USA show, ‘White Collar’; where he got praised for his performance. In the next season, he directed the episode “Neighborhood Watch”. In 2015, in season 2, he directed 3 episodes of the hit NBC television show ‘The Blacklist’. Next year, in 2016, he played in the short-lived ABC drama ‘The Family’.
Being a travel writer, McCarthy is currently an Editor at Large at National Geographic Traveler magazine. In 2012, McCarthy’s book, The Longest Way Home: One Man’s Quest for the Courage to Settle Down, was published. In February/March 2015, National Geographic published his account, entitled “A Song for Ireland”. McCarthy married his first wife, Carol Schneider in 1999. But, six years later after the birth of their son, they got divorced. Then, in 2011 he married Dolores Rice and they have one daughter. Today his net worth is around $12 million.
