Until his sad demise on June 8, 2018, Anthony Bourdain himself served as the presenter and creator of the show. We follow Anthony as he travels the beautiful valleys of Myanmar and tries out their local cuisines.
In the 12th season of ‘Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown’, Anthony travels to Kenya, Asturias in Spain, Indonesia, West Texas, and Lower East Side. In Kenya, he is joined by comedian W. Kamau Bell as they explore the cultural sites and the local cuisines. At Nairobi, Anthony learns more about the countries financial situation, the problems the people face and the second-hand clothing industry.
In Indonesia, Anthony visits a shadow puppet performance that explains so much about Indonesian history and culture. He learns about the political situation in Indonesia and tries out the local cuisine and understands its unique taste.
In one of the episodes of season 12, Anthony also talks about his own perspective. He admits how traveling all around the world has helped him learn so much, and how his own perspective towards food, people and their cultures has changed. Anthony then ventures towards the Mexican border in Texas.
He tries to understand the way of life of the people here, who live far away from modern-day comforts and have to constantly battle nature. He shares a locally prepared cuisine with the cowboys. The last episode of ‘Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown’ brings Anthony back to his hometown of New York completing a full circle as he explores the Lower East Side, which is the south-eastern neighborhood of New York.
Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown Season 13 Release Date: Cancelled or Renewed?
‘Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown’ Season 12 premiered on September 23, 2018, and ran until November 11, 2018, for 7 episodes. Unfortunately, on June 8, 2018, Anthony Bourdain was found dead in his hotel suite in France. The cause of death was declared to be suicide by hanging.
The world lost one of the most prominent figures of the food industry and ‘Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown’ came to an end. The show was a massive commercial success with an average viewership of 1 million per episode.
The show has won twelve Primetime Emmy Awards out of a total of 31 nominations. It also won a Peabody Award in 2013. Due to the unfortunate death of Anthony Bourdain, there will be no ‘Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown’ Season 13, as the show stands canceled.
