‘Archer’ is an acclaimed adult animated sitcom that premiered in 2009 on FX. It revolves around a dysfunctional secret service agency led by the titular and flawed Sterling Archer, accompanied by his equally weird associates. Since its release, ‘Archer’ has progressed to become a mainstream hit, even winning the Emmys and Critics Choice Television Awards.
Created by Adam Reed, the 11th iteration of the series, which dropped in September 2020, follows Archer as he wakes up from his multi-year coma — bringing him back to reality. You must already be aware that from seasons 8 to 10, the story is set in different fantasy realms — all products of Archer’s comatose mind. But when his coma is broken in the season 10 finale, we return to the earlier, real-world backdrop of Los Angeles – starting from season 11. Now that the 11th outing has ended, let us check out if the show will spawn another season.
Archer Season 12 Release Date:
‘Archer’ season 11 premiered on September 16, 2020, at 10 pm ET/ 9 pm CT with two back-to-back episodes, on FXX. It ended with its eighth episode on October 28, 2020. The show is also available on FX on Hulu, the FXNow digital video-on-demand platform, and Hulu.
The 11th season reported a 32% rise in ratings for total viewers as compared to the previous season — with 2.43M viewers per episode across linear and digital platforms. Owing to the remarkable response, on October 21, 2020, FXX renewed the show for its 12th edition. Nick Grad, President of Original Programming, FX Entertainment, confirmed the news in a statement:
“Archer is back in a big way this season, with viewership up as the Emmy Award-winning spy series returns to its roots and begins to plot the 12th season next year. Our thanks to Adam Reed, Matt Thompson, Casey Willis, and the entire team at Floyd County Productions for keeping Archer as fun as ever and true to form. Together with its unbelievable voice cast, Archer is set to give fans another great season” — Deadline.

The network has additionally reported that ‘Archer’ season 12 will premiere sometime in 2021.
Archer Season 12 Cast: Who Can be in it?
Almost the entire core voiceover cast of ‘Archer’ will return for the 12th edition. We have H.Jon Benjamin as Sterling Archer, Judy Greer as Archer’s talented assistant Cheryl Tunt, Amber Nash as the always adorable Pam, Chris Parnell as Cyril, Aisha Tyler as super-spy and Archer’s complicated love interest Lana, Jessica Walter as Archer’s mom Malory, and Lucky Yates as Dr. Krieger. Creator Adam Reed will make a comeback to voice Ray Gillette.
Archer Season 12 Plot: What Can it be About?
The season 11 finale sees Archer and his team investigating a murder at an Antarctic compound. In the end, the bad guys bite the dust and the story ends, ‘Archer’ style. There are a couple of minutes where the characters reflect on their evolution over the season – but that’s it. However, Archer does have an important realization — he has been too selfish all this while. He accepts how terrible he is as a person but does not admit it aloud.
Season 12 is expected to take place in the same non-coma world as season 11. And it should also answer some questions left unresolved in the 11th iteration — what happened to the super-powerful exo-suit from episode 3? Is Archer on good terms with Barry now? And what about Lana and Robert? Moreover, Archer needs to figure out how to build his relationship with his daughter AJ. Well, we hope season 12 gives us the answers to all these questions while delivering more laughs and incredible spy missions.
