‘Barnwood Builders’ is an American reality series that first premiered on November 1, 2013, on DIY Network. The series, over the years, has been directed by different directors like Rick Kaplan, Travis Tips, Sean McCourt, Katie Rolnick, Russell Pflueger, Mathew Bennett, and Franco Losapio. The show features the builders of West Virginia, who demolish old and rusty barns and cabins in America and restore them as beautiful modern structures.
While shows based on car restorations are very common nowadays, ‘Barnwood Builders’ is a show based on the restoration of barns and cabins. Not a very common theme, we know, but not completely unique either. There are a handful of shows that are based on home construction. ‘Yard Crashers’ is another show on DIY Network, based on a similar concept. However, here the hosts construct beautiful backyards for families. ‘Building Wild’, ‘Holmes on Homes’, ‘Extreme Makeover’ and ‘Home Improvement’ are some more examples of shows featuring the same plot, that viewers have liked in the past.
Among such shows, ‘Barnwood Builders’ has already enjoyed nine good seasons, leaving the fans wondering whether there will be a tenth. We are here to delve into that after offering a quick glimpse at the show’s details.
Barnwood Builders Cast: Who’s in it?
As an unscripted reality show, the members of ‘Barnwood Builders’ play themselves and not some fancy characters. Sean McCourt, best known for his shows ‘Mad Scientists’ and ‘Deadliest Catch: The Bait‘, and his performances in ‘Titanic’ and ‘Wicked’, is the narrator of the show.
As mentioned earlier, he is also the director of the show. Mark Bowe and his crew, including Johnny Jett, Tim Rose, Sherman Thompson, and Graham Ferguson, are regular cast members, who are most likely to return for ‘Barnwood Builders’ Season 10 as well. Alex Webb and Brian Buckner have also been a part of the show in the past, but whether they will return for Season 10, remains unconfirmed.
Barnwood Builders Plot: What is it about?
Mark and his crew members visit different places across the country and dismantle some of the most beautiful old barns and cabins, and transform them into something very modern and amazing. The season premieres with the team dismantling the old barn built by the uncle of Abe Lincoln.
They later build it into an Appalachian style barn using old tobacco timbers. In the following episodes, they take down a 170-year-old crib and transform it into an old-fashioned barn raising. By the end of Season 1, the team takes down a cabin that belongs to the civil war era. They rebuild the cabin and sell it to a buyer, who loves collecting historic homes.
The following seasons continue with Mark and his crew visiting some of the most historic and ancient barns and cabins and turning them into beautiful chapels, homes, essentially giving the structures a modern spin. The episodes also feature adventurous and spontaneous activities of the crew, like training young outsiders with wood and jumping into lakes to find the right leaves.
In Season 9, the show takes us through different locations and stories. In one of the episodes, Mark visits one of the biggest barns he has ever seen and finds the oldest oak tree in the United States. The crew is also approached by a couple to create a beautiful chapel that will be used as a venue for the wedding.
Mark and his team explore the Digger’s Cabin and David’s dream home (both are the same), along with the muddy take-down in Virginia. At the end of Season 9, the entire crew moves an ancient cabin that was built in 1802, from New Hampshire to South Carolina, and rebuilds it into a dramatic structure.
Barnwood Builders Season 10 Release Date: When will it premiere?
‘Barnwood Builders’ Season 9 premiered on August 9, 2019, on DIY Network. The season was spread across 7 episodes and the last episode released on September 15, 2019. The show has been well received by the audience for over 6 years now. It is the kind of series that you do not mind watching at any time of the day. The suburban feel of the show matches correctly with the rustic, ancient but tough barns and cabins.
‘Barnwood Builders’ is frankly an entertaining and smooth watch. While there has been no announcement about the release of Season 10 yet, we like to believe that it will arrive in a little while. As the last season has ended quite recently, in 2019, we believe ‘Barnwood Builders’ Season 10 will release sometime in May 2020, which is just a few months away.
