How did Bernie Mac earn his money and wealth?
Bernard Mac was born on October 5, 1957 and died on August 9, 2008. He is better remembered as an American stand-up comedian, actor, and voice actor. Mac began his journey of acting as a stand-up comedian in Chicago’s Cotton Club. After he won the Miller Lite Comedy Search at 32, he rose to stardom with his comedy skills. He played a small role in House Party 3 released in 1994 as Uncle Vester. He also had a brief talk show on HBO called Midnight Mac.
Later, Mac also acted in brief and supporting roles and got his major break as “Pastor Clever” in Ice Cube’s 1995 film Friday. Following that role, Mac had his first featuring role as “Dollar Bill”, in The Players Club. Mac was cast as the role of Bosley for the Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, a Charlie’s Angels sequel. In 2003 he gave a remarkable performance in a supporting role as the villain in Bad Santa. He also featured in Guess Who?, a remake of the comedy flick Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, and also appeared as a cameo in the film Transformers released in 2007 playing the role of the car salesman “Bobby Bolivia”.
He also hosted the reality television talent show Last Comic Standing and provided his voice for Zuba in Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. He starred along with Samuel L. Jackson in the musical comedy Soul Men in 2008 as “Floyd Henderson”. His final role in the movie was as Jimmy Lunchbox in the Disney film Old Dogs which was released in 2009, a year after his death.
In 2001 the Fox channel offered Mac to act in his own sitcom called The Bernie Mac Show where he can be seen playing an illusory version of himself. In the show, he rapidly becomes a guardian of the three children of his sister after she enters rehab. In the last three years of his life, Mac openly revealed that he had suffered from sarcoidosis, an unknown disease that causes irritation in tissue. Sarcoidosis repeatedly attacked Mac’s lungs. In 2008, Mac was admitted to the Northwestern Memorial Hospital in his habitat. After a week of failed medical treatment, Mac underwent cardiac arrest and died during the early morning hours of August 9, from problems of pneumonia.
Mac’s public cremation was held a week after his death at the House of Hope Church with the presence of nearly 8,000 people. Notable funeral-goers at Mac’s funeral were Chris Rock, Chicago Mayor, Samuel L. Jackson, Richard M. Daley, Don Cheadle, Ashton Kutcher, etc.
