Betsy Devos, real name Elisabeth Dee DeVos, was born on 8 January 1958 in Michigan, Us to Elsa Prince and Edgar Prince. Her father was a businessman who established ‘Prince Corporation,’ an automobile based supplier in Michigan. Betsy went to Holland Christian High School and later earned a BA degree from the Calvin College in the year 1979. She continued to stay as a member of the Christian Reformed Church located in North America and also a member of the Mars Hill Bible Church.
Betsy DeVos is not only an American businesswoman but is also a politician and philanthropist currently serving as the eleventh US Secretary of Education since the year 2017. She started off her journey with the Michigan Republican Party in the year 1982 and since the year 1986, Betsy has been serving the party as a local precinct delegate for sixteen consecutive two-year terms. In the year 1989, she co-founded the privately held investment management company called ‘Windquest Group’ along with her husband Dick DeVos. The same year, the Dick and Betsy DeVos Foundation was established which has since then donated millions of dollars to hospitals, art organizations, Christian schools, public schools and among others. From the year 1992 to 1997, Betsy remained as the Republican National Committeewoman for Michigan.

Later, on 7 February 2017, Betsy was confirmed as the education secretary and assumed office as the eleventh US Secretary of Education.
