‘Betty’ is a women-centric dramedy that follows a diverse and cohesive group of women in New York City, as they navigate their passion for skateboarding and work towards finding a footing in the sport and culture dominated by males. It is a spin-off of Crystal Moselle’s 2018 film ‘Skate Kitchen.’ Creator Moselle also serves as the co-writer of the skateboarding comedy, along with co-writers Patricia Breen and Lesley Arfin.
The critics and audiences lauded the original film for preserving the authenticity of the characters, adopting a slice-of-life narrative approach, and also for its infectiously joyful tone. The series aims to maintain the essence of the film. Intrigued much? Want to know about the release date and other details of ‘Betty’ season 1? Keep reading.

Betty Plot: What is it About?
The uplifting tale follows the lives of talented female skateboarders in New York City – Camille, Janay, Honeybear, Kirt, Indigo – who band together to rebel against the patriarchy that consumes the skateboarding scene in New York City. Janay is headstrong and inflexible. Honeybear is confused and scared to pursue a stable love life with the woman she is fond of, fearing rejection. Kirt is the funniest in the group and is ever-ready to throw a fight for the sake of her girls. Savvy and street-smart Indigo is tired of living in the body of a skilled art school drop-out. Camille is sharp-witted but mostly keeps to herself. She thinks hanging out with the boys is considered cool and hip but soon realizes it is nothing in comparison to the bond, the girls share.
Janay and Kirt throw an all-girl session, which is interrupted by a hostile guest, thus, leading to a lot of chaos and disarray. Moving on from the event, Kirt, Indigo, and Russell try to teach the chauvinistic boys a lesson. Camille begins to develop feelings for Bambi, after spending time with him. A fight breaks out at Janay’s birthday, and Kirt packs a hard punch on a female rival group member. Along with dealing with external threats and personal issues, the women also face interpersonal relationship issues that sometimes lead to sloppy partings. Still, they always bounce back for an epic all-girls skate session.
