Big Brother Season 23 Episode 1 Recap

In the first episode of season 23, all 16 HouseGuests showed up in the ‘Big Brother’ house four at a time. But instead of settling down and familiarizing themselves with their new life, the contestants were forced to tackle their first challenge comprising four contestants each. It was revealed that the winners would get a free pass to compete for Head of Household later in the show, and also the power to change the rules of the game.

The four winners of the kick-offs include farmer Frenchie, make-up artist Whitney, contractor assistant Christian, and artificial intelligence engineer Claire. They were then asked to choose three players each, who would be assisting them in all their tasks for the next four weeks. After that, the formation of the teams will be open to change. The captains then engaged in a fun selection process involving a slot machine that revealed fun facts about two different HouseGuests at one go. The captains were allowed to draft one of them in their team.

The final teams are called The Jokers (Azah, Britini, Derek F. and captain Frenchie); The Aces (Brent, Derek X., Hannah, and captain Whitney); The Kings (Alyssa, Xavier, Sarah Beth, and captain Christian); and The Queens (Kyland, Tiffany, Travis, and captain Claire). The Jokers nailed the season’s first Head of Household competition, earning the entire team immunity for a week. Captain Frenchie further declined to take up the summer’s first “Big Risks and Big Rewards” task that could’ve provided two weeks of immunity on winning. Lastly, Julie talked about the Wild Card competition, a new weekly activity that would allow the HouseGuests to earn lucrative rewards.
