Preview: Black-ish S06 E15

‘Black-ish’ is a popular family sitcom whose success has led to multiple spin-offs apart from keeping the show going for six seasons so far. While it might seem like any other family sitcom out there, what sets ‘Black-ish’ apart is its unabashed portrayal of African-American identity. The Guardian summarizes the series’ premise in the best manner: it is about a family who do not “”happen to be black” but a family who are black.”

The ABC show follows a successful executive, Dre Johnson and his family. Dre attempts to get his family to gel with their neighbors and on a larger scale, find his place in society. Apart from addressing topical, race and identity-related issues, the show also takes a look at a myriad of everyday problems.

Black-ish Season 6 Episode 14 Recap:

The fourteenth episode of the sixth season of ‘Black-ish’ is titled ‘Adventure to Ventura.’ Like most of the episodes, this one also focuses on one of the Johnson parents facing a conflict related to raising their children.

To be more specific, Dre is worried about Diane and Jack. He thinks that they might not be able to survive or fend for themselves in the real world. Most parents would relate to the conundrum of raising children in a sheltered environment. In a bid to do something about that, Dre sends Diane and Jack on a tiny adventure.

On the other hand, Junior has a work-related problem in this episode. He befriends one of his co-workers, Josh in order to get a decent peer review. However, that lands him in a rather complex situation.
