‘Bloodride’ Renewal Status: Everything We Know

After receiving rave reviews for its anthology series like ‘Criminal‘ and ‘Black Mirror‘, Netflix directed its attention toward Norweigian horror. Bloodride is a supernatural anthology from Norway, which follows a bunch of doomed passengers on a bus that is driving toward an unknown destination.

Praised by fans for its twisted plot, chilling dark humor, and gruesome narration, season 1 of the show opened to positive reviews. Now the question is, when will Bloodride season 2 release? Well, let’s get straight to answering this question.

Bloodride Season 2 Release Date: When will it premiere?

Bloodride season 1 premiered on March 13, 2020, on Netflix. It consisted of six episodes. Each episode spans a duration of around 30 minutes.

Since Bloodride adopts the fan-favorite and very flexible anthology format, it has a huge scope of spanning multiple seasons. Take, for instance, Netflix’s Love, Death & Robots, Criminal, and Black Mirror. And moreover, we cannot deny the appeal that Norweigian drama holds for fans. Hence, the show holds a strong potential of being recommissioned for another season. If renewed, we can expect Bloodride season 2 to release sometime in March 2021.

Bloodride Cast: Who can be in it?

Each episode of Bloodride is a self-contained story, revolving around a particular set of characters. Some of the actors we meet in season 1 are Ine Marie Wilmann, Bjørnar Teigen, Emma Spetalen Magnusson, Benjamin Helstad, Harald Rosenstrøm, Torfinn Nag, Dagny Backer Johnsen, Stig Amdam, and Synnøve Macody Lund.

Since Bloodride is an anthology series, we expect season 2 to feature a different cast altogether. We will update this section as and when we hear about a renewal and Netflix reveals its new list of stars.

Bloodride Plot: What can it be about?

Bloodride, as described by Netflix, is a “Norwegian language, tongue-in-cheek horror anthology series, where each story is set in its own realistic, yet weird universe.” There are six unique tales of terror, “told with glee and enthusiasm.” Netflix teased what can be expected from the show in its Berlinale press release, stating: “Imagine a journey into the unknown with twists and turns, mysteries, absurdities, and morbid humor.”

Written by Kjetil Indregard and directed by Atle Knudsen, Bloodride begins by introducing us to a silent driver who is carrying his passengers through a desolate landscape to an unknown destination. Each character (s) has a different story but all of them are connected through this doomed bus ride. Nobody knows where they are going and after they get off at a particular location, this is when their individual tales begin.

The featured stories range from psychological horror to superstitions, supernatural phenomena, and downright slasher gore. In one episode, we meet a frustrated mum from the city who tries to adjust to the country lifestyle with her daughter. Another episode deals with workplace drama while one more story is about ambition, greed, and the subsequent downfall. In ‘The Ultimate Sacrifice’, we get a different insight into obsessive pet parenting.

Season 2, as and when it is renewed, is expected to showcase another bunch of equally horrific and gruesome yet weird horror-inspired tales, revolving around the passengers of the fated bus.
