How did Bobby Flay earn his money and wealth?
Robert William Flay is also known as Bobby Flay was born on 10 December 1964 to Bill and Dorothy Flay and was raised on the Upper East Side neighborhood of Manhattan. He is an American reality television personality celebrity chef and a restaurateur. During his childhood, he attended denominational schools and was raised as a Catholic by his parents. He developed his interest in cooking at the early age of 8 when he demanded an easy-bake oven.
He started his career in the restaurant industry by taking jobs in pizza parlors and Baskin-Robins and further took a job to make salads at Joe Allen Restaurant situated in Manhattan’s Theater District. Impressed with the Flay’s natural talent, Joe Allan decided to pay Flay’s studies at the French Culinary Institute. In 1984 Bobby Flay graduated as one of the members of the first graduating class of the French Culinary Institute. Flay started his career after the degree to work as a sous-chef and started to learn the culinary arts. Flay was promoted as an executive at the Brighton Grill when their executive chef was fired. He did not continue the job and quit as he thought he was not ready to run the kitchen. Later on, Flay started working as a chef for restaurateur Jonathan Waxman at Bud and Jams, who introduced Flay with his career-defining southwestern and Cajun cuisine.
Bobby Flay, later on, started working on the floor at the American Stock Exchange but gradually returned to the kitchen after a short while and started working as the executive chef from 1988 to 1990 at Miracle Grill in the East Village. Flay’s food impressed restaurateur Jerome Kretchmer, who was looking for a southwestern-style chef. Kretchmer offered Flay a job at Mesa Grill as an executive chef and then in the year 1993, Flay became his partner and together they opened Bolo Bar & Restaurant. Flay then went on to open his restaurants, such as second Mesa Grill, Bar Americain, an American Brasserie and Bobby Flay Steak in the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City among many other restaurants.
In the year 2008, his Mesa Grill in Las Vegas earned his only Michelin Star although was taken away in 2009 edition. Flay has also been a master instructor at the French Culinary Institute still occasionally visits with the permission of his schedule. Flay also personally helps select the awardee each year for Bobby Flay Scholarship, which he established in the year 2003 for the students in the Long Island City Culinary Arts Program.
Flay has appeared and hosted in many television shows such as “Great Chefs”, “Great Chefs Cook America”, “Hot Off the Grill with Bobby Flay”, “The Best Thing I Ever Ate”, “Worst Cooks in America” and many more. He hosted fourteen cooking show along with specials on Food Network and Cooking Channel.
