He said that writing for season 8 has already begun (remotely, of course). He wrote: “I’m happy to announce that the #Brooklyn99 season 8 writers’ room started (remotely) today. If we assume the writing to conclude within the next couple of months, filming should start soon after. However, we can expect a bit of a delay in the shooting schedule due to the 2020 health crisis. In all probability, ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ season 8 should premiere sometime in Fall 2021.

The cast of the cop comedy is led by Andy Samberg as Jake Peralta, Stephanie Beatriz as Rosa Diaz, Terry Crews as Terry Jeffords, Melissa Fumero as Amy Santiago, Joe Lo Truglio as Charles Boyle, Andre Braugher as Raymond Holt, Dirk Blocker as Michael Hitchcock, and Joel McKinnon Miller as Norm Scully. Season 7 of ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ is packed with multiple comic moments. Holt, who was demoted earlier, manages to retrieve his position of Captain. Meanwhile, Amy gets pregnant after six months of trying, and Jake almost ends up losing his job while trying to solve a case. And for the first time in the show’s history, Rosa wins the Halloween Heist thrice — winning all of the Halloween, Valentine’s Day, and Easter Heists.
Season 8 will embrace the same premise and continue to follow the various hijinks of the fictional NYPD crew at the 99th Precinct in Brooklyn. Moreover, with Jake welcoming his baby in the seventh season’s finale, it will be interesting to see how his character changes as he takes up new responsibilities of fathering his kid.
