Brotherhood Plot: What is it about?
‘Brotherhood’ follows Cristina, Edson, Darlene, Ivan, Andrade, Carniça, and Marcel, and chronicles their lives after they get connected with one another through crime. Most of the narration is through the perspectives of Cristina and Edson, siblings from the same family with different notions about justice. However, when their lives become entwined, they realize that their distinct worlds are somehow interlinked to a common reality.
Cristina is an honest and dedicated lawyer who one day, uncovers that her older brother, who she had always looked up to, is in prison. She later discovers that her estranged sibling is, in fact, the leader of a rising criminal faction, namely the Brotherhood. Now, as part of her duty but against her wishes, Cristina is compelled by the authorities to infiltrate the Brotherhood, extract vital information from the faction, and pass this data to the police. In other words, she needs to work against her own brother — a decision that puts her in a moral crisis. Still, staying true to her professional ethics, Cristina agrees to take up the perilous mission. In her journey, she unravels her darker side and starts questioning her own notions of justice.
‘Brotherhood’ is a power-packed crime thriller that addresses a very sensitive and relevant issue. It is set in a country whose inhabitants are regular victims of violence and have almost become used to appalling acts of brutality. And ‘Brotherhood’ takes a bold step toward addressing the contradictory Brazilian reality by attempting to dive deep into the roots and genesis of the problem. The series not only approaches a grave subject but its story brings in a combination of suspense, crime, action, and thriller elements.
Brotherhood Season 2 Release Date: When will it premiere?
‘Brotherhood’ season 1 premiered on Netflix on October 25, 2019. Its entire run for the first season comprised of eight episodes, all of which were released on the same day.
As far as next season goes, we are sure that Netflix must have been encouraged by the response that the first season has received. So, it is quite likely that the network will renew the show for a second season. If everything goes as expected, our best guess is that ‘Brotherhood’ season 2 can release sometime in October, 2020.
