Cartel Crew Season 2: Premiere Date, Cast, Trailer, News

VH1‘s slate boasts of a plethora of reality TV series that have established the network as one of the finest producers of unscripted TV out there. The Love & Hip-Hop franchise immediately comes to mind; what with having birthed three equally successful spin-offs, it is heralded as one of the top-rated unscripted franchises in television history. Black In Crew, RuPaul’s Dra Race, and Basketball Wives are a few other notable mentions in the category.

Cartel Crew is the newest addition on VH1’s schedule that first premiered on January 7, 2019, and aired ten episodes collectively until March 11, 2019. Prior to its release, a 10-minute special was broadcasted on December 31, 2018. The series focuses on the descendants of the Cartel life and discusses the significance the legacies of their ancestors have had on their lives. It is produced by Big Fish Entertainment.

Cartel Crew Cast: Who is in it?

When talking of the Cartel Life lineage in Miami, we mean the likes of Michael Corleone Blanco, Kat “Tatu Baby” Flores, Dayana Castellanos, Marie Ramirez-D’Ariano, Nicole Zavala, Stephanie Acevedo, Grant Stern, and Carlos Oliveros.

Michael Blanco, son of “Cocaine Godmother” Griselda Blanco, had 33 years devoted to a lifestyle befitting criminals. After the assassination of his mother, he shunned the drug world altogether to venture into the legal territory with his personal clothing brand, “Pure Blanco.”

Marie Ramirez De Arellano grew up surrounded by crime. Although she was never directly involved in his father’s dealings, she was aware of them. As she began a relationship with Michael Blanco, she lost touch with her family and is unconditionally devoted to the love of her life and his clothing brand.

Kat Flores flee with her mother to Miami after her father was assassinated. She opted for a legitimate life for her son and herself and awaits her half-brother Eddie’s release from prison.

Stephanie Acevedo, daughter of the infamous cocaine trafficker had her world shred to pieces when her father was arrested and imprisoned. Luckily for her, she has a passion and hopes to make it big as a singer through rigorous hard work and honesty.

Nicole Zavala and Michael Zavala had their feet deep in the cartel life. It wasn’t a life-changing event that turned them towards a legitimate life but a desire to lead an honest life. However, their past makes it difficult for them to be accepted into a community.

Carlos “Loz” Oliveros lost a beloved member of his family to murder and turned his back to the life of crime. He is pursuing a career as a tattoo artist while making sure his daughter is raised sans the demons of his former life.

Dayana Castellanos has a two-year prison role for her involvement in cartel-connected marijuana houses. A mother of her four children, all she is concerned with is raising them to be hard-working citizens.

Cartel Crew Plot: What is it about?

The series gives due attention to the casts’ futures rather than focusing on their pasts. Its intention is not to dig up dirt on the cartel but to draw people towards a dignified life. Los, who is a Miami-based tattoo artist, said, “Everybody has this misconception because of what they put on a film like you can’t get out of it. This is a platform to inspire people that you could have hope in leaving a real morbid, sullen lifestyle.”

The ten-part season 1 of Cartel Crew ran from January 7, 2019, to March 11, 2019, focusing on the daily lives of its cast, each harbouring a dream to carve a name for themselves outside the world of crime. There is a long road ahead in their personal and professional lives and thus, plenty of stories to tell. On top of that, the reception has been fairly positive so, fans can expect season 2 to drop late in 2019, and if not, a release date in January 2020 seems likely.
