12. The Widow (2019 – )

The Widow‘ is an action-packed thriller series from ITV and Amazon Prime. The plot follows Georgia Wells (played by Kate Beckinsale), whose husband Will (played by Matthew Le Nevez) goes missing after a plane crash in Congo. While it is widely acknowledged that the man has been killed in the crash, Georgia has an intuitive feeling that he is still alive. She decides to follow her instincts and embarks on an adventurous journey to the wilderness of Congo. Charles Dance plays the role of Martin Benson, who is the godfather to Georgia Wells. The other cast includes Alex Kingston and Babs Olusanmokun. The series is created and written by Harry and Jack Williams. The eight-part first season was released on Amazon Prime on March 1, 2019. It garnered positive reviews for the raw depiction of violence, bravery, passion, and corruption. ‘The Widow’ season 2 is yet to be confirmed by ITV and Amazon Studios.

11. Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)

Charles Dance plays the villainous Jonah Alan in the upcoming ‘Godzilla‘ sequel, ‘King of the Monsters.’ Jonah is an ex-British Army colonel and a secret agent in the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6). His bitter experiences in the field make him disenchanted about the future of humanity. He becomes a defector and rogue who wants to unleash his frustration on the human race. Though he is connected to the armed mercenaries of the crypto-agency Monarch, they soon find his true colors and put him in a Pakistani Jail. But Jonah goes into oblivion after a successful jailbreak. More details about his part in the movie are kept under tight wraps. The other cast includes Bradley Whitford, Sally Hawkins, Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Lexi Rabe, and Ken Watanabe. The movie is directed by filmmaker Michael Dougherty from a screenplay he co-wrote with Zach Shields. ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ hits screens on May 31, 2019.

10. The Mystery of Dragon Seal: Journey to China (2019)

The Russian-Chinese fantasy adventure film ‘The Mystery of Dragon Seal: Journey to China’ is the sequel to the 2014 hit ‘Viy.’ Loosely based on the story of the same name by Nikolai Gogol, the plot revolves around the 18th-century cartographer and explorer Jonathan Green (played by Jason Flemyng). In the upcoming sequel, he reportedly embarks on an academic and adventure journey from England to China. Charles Dance reprises the character of Lord Dudley in the sequel. The other cast includes Rutger Hauer, Jackie Chan and Arnold Schwarzenegger. ‘The Mystery of Dragon Seal: Journey to China’ is directed by Oleg Stepchenko from a screenplay he co-wrote with Dmitri Palees and Alexey Petrukhin. The movie is slated for a 19 September 2019, release.

9. The Book of Vision (TBA)

The fantasy drama film ‘The Book of Vision’ features Charles Dance, Dutch actress Lotte Verbeek and Swedish actor Sverrir Gudnaso in the lead roles. According to Variety, the movie revolves around a doctor-patient relationship. Eva (played by Lotte Verbeek) is a young Italian doctor who accidentally finds the 18th-century text about a Prussian doctor and a lethal mystery. As she digs deep into the book, Eva brings back its contents into life, including the Prussian doctor (played by Charles Dance). He also plays Eva’s doctor in the present day. Directed by Italian filmmaker Carlo Hintermann and executive produced by Terrence Malick, ‘The Book of Vision’ hasn’t got a release date yet.

8. Master Moley (TBA)

The animated TV special ‘Master Moley’ features an ensemble voice cast including Warwick Davis, Gemma Arterton, Charles Dance, Julie Walters, and Richard E. Grant. The 30-minute family special tells the story of the adventures of a mole who dreams of becoming the keeper of a magical book. According to legend, the book will bring peace between humans and moles. Based on a bedtime story created by James Reatchlous, the TV special has Charles Dance playing the character of Mr. James Moley. ‘Cosmo-Giantwheel’ oversees the animation of the show. It is directed by Leon Joosen from a screenplay by Ricky Roxburgh and Arthur Landon.

7. Fanny Lye Deliver’d (TBA)

‘Fanny Lye Deliver’d’ is an upcoming British period drama film which features Maxine Peake, Charles Dance and Freddie Fox in the lead roles. Set in 1657, the plot revolves around the Shropshire farm where Fanny Lye (played by Peake) leads a puritan married life along with her husband John Lye (played by Dance) and young son Arthur. Lye’s dull and monotonous world turns upside down when a young couple (played by Fox, and Tanya Reynolds) arrives. The cunning and ruthless sheriff (played by Peter McDonald) and his deputy are on their tail. The couple prompts her to transcend her not-so-happy marriage and discover life in simple and good things around her. The movie is written and directed by Thomas Clay.

6. Kingsman: The Great Game (2020)

Kingsman: The Great Game‘ is the prequel to the ‘Kingsman‘ movie franchise. The plot unfolds in the backdrop of the ruins of a post World War 2 Europe. ‘The Great Game’ is touted as an origin story that traces back to the formation of the Kingsman agents. ‘The Great Game’ features an impressive cast which includes Ralph Fiennes, Harris Dickinson, Gemma Arterton, Daniel Bruhl, Charles Dance, Stanley Tucci, Aaron Johnson, Djimon Hounsou, Matthew Goode, and Tom Hollander. Dance plays the character of Arthur in the movie. Matthew Vaughn returns as the writer and director of the film. According to latest reports, 20th Century Fox pushed the release date for ‘Kingsman: The Great Game’ to February 14th, 2020.

5. The Singapore Grip (TBA)

Charles Dance will be seen alongside David Morrissey and Luke Treadway in the ITV drama series ‘The Singapore Grip.’ Adapted from the novel by J.G.
