Chicago Fire Plot: What is it about?

‘Chicago Fire’ follows the personal and professional lives that the firefighters of Chicago lead. It makes for a thrilling watch given the difficult and challenging profession they are in and are seen constantly risking their lives to save others. The plot of the show is basically Chicago Fire Department’s rescue stories that comes with deaths of colleagues, friends and the effect it has on their personal lives.

What stands out about the show is how it sticks to the successful formula of a procedural drama, including elements of rivalry, starting off with a testosterone filled atmosphere, which is mitigated by the arrival of some female characters. A word must be said in praise of the realism that the show aspires to. Some of the cast members have observed and worked with actual firefighters in Chicago so as to better portray their roles. While there is no denying the fact that there are soapy elements in this series, underneath it all is a touching story of what it means to be a family.

The crux of the show is the unwavering kinship which is shared by every member of the crew who not only are willing to save the lives of others but are also ready to sacrifice it all to keep their colleagues safe. Since the political and social upheaval has given rise to resorting to entertainment as a means of escape and seeking comfort, seeing such relatable characters who are optimistic and achieve results against insurmountable odds is somewhat comforting.

In season 8, you can expect to see more insight into the lives and struggles of firefighters.
