Chicago P.D. Season 7 Episode 17 Recap:

Episode 17 begins with Hank finding a gravely injured child near a park, accompanied by the dead body of an adult. At that moment Homicide arrives and says that they want to take over the case. But Voight is not pleased. The next day, the girl is reported to be alive but she is still in a critical condition. A video clip leads the crew to a possible suspect named Lamar, who denies any involvement.

Voight then visits a man named Frank, who knows all the kids in the locality and asks his help. At that moment, he receives a text informing him that the kid has died. Frank then meets up with Lamar, who leads the team to JoJo. But again, JoJo has an alibi; he was not present at the crime scene. On the other hand, Voight also learns that Homicide would be interfering in the case, much against his wishes.

Later, the PD team traces another suspect, whose family used to own a bar. They head to the spot and find their man, accompanied by another bleeding guy on the floor — revealed to be an ex-prison mate of Lamar. Lamar had hired him to kill somebody else at the park but things went wrong. The crew next tracks Lamar down but because of the untimely interference of Homicide, Frank gets hurt pretty badly. This causes Voight to lose his temper and when the homicide agent tries to justify himself, Voight ends up punching him right on the face.
