Christopher Whitelaw Pine is an American actor much appreciated for his portrayal of James T. Kirk in the Star Trek reboot film series. Born on the 26th of August in 1980 to actor Robert Pine and psychotherapist and actress Gwynne Gilford in Los Angeles, California, Pine hails from a family of actors. Besides his parents, his maternal grandmother Anne Gwynne was a Hollywood actress. Chris Pine graduated with a bachelor of arts in English from the University of California in Berkeley in the year 2002. He was a member of the UC Berkeley Theater Department wherein Pine performed in a couple of theatre shows locally. For an year, he was an exchange student at the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom. On completing graduation, Chris Pine then went on to attend Williamstown Theatre Festival and also studied at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco.

His debut acting role on television was with ER wherein he appeared in an episode in 2003. Soon after that he was seen in minor roles in episodes of The Guardian and CSI: Miami. The very next year Pine appeared in a short film Why Germany?. He took up the role of Nicholas Devereaux in The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement. This film went on to be the breakthrough hit in Chris Pine’s acting career.

In 2006, Pine was cast as Jake Hardin in the romantic comedy Just My Luck opposite Lindsay Lohan. He was also seen in the comedy Blind Dating and in the action film Smokin’ Aces later that year. In 2007, he appeared alongside Scott Wolf in the Los Angeles production of Neil LaBute’s play Fat Pig and was subject to much appreciation for his acting skills. It was in the year 2009 that Pine appeared in the much acclaimed science fiction adventure film Star Trek directed by J. J. Abrams. He played the role of James T. Kirk in the film that went on to gross at a whopping $385.7 million at the box office.

Another major role in Chris Pine’s career was of train conductor Will Colson in the 2010 disaster thriller film directed by Tony Scott.
