Chris Pine made his feature film debut in 2004’s ‘The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement’, opposite Anne Hathaway. He then played Luther Scott in ‘Confession’, which released in 2005 and Jake Hardin in 2006’s ‘Just My Luck’. In 2006, Pine appeared as Danny in romantic comedy ‘Blind Dating’ and as Darwin Trevor in crime drama ‘Smokin’ Aces’. He became an international star in 2009 when he was cast as James T. In 2016, Pine played Bernie Webber in ‘The Finest Hour’ and starred as a bank robber in the crime-drama ‘Hell or High Water’, which was directed by David Mackenzie and written by Taylor Sheridan. The latter also starred Jeff Bridges and Ben Foster. Pine played Mr. Murry in the fantasy adventure ‘A Wrinkle in Time’, which released in 2018. Pine voiced the character of Peter Parker in the animated hit ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’, which was also released in 2018. Pine will reprise the role of Steve Trevor in the movie. His performance in the first movie received a lot of praise and he will definitely be great in the second one as well. 3. Violence of Action (TBA)
Having portrayed the role of an honorable and heroic soldier in ‘Wonder Woman’, Chris Pine is all set to show the dirtier and darker side of Black Ops missions in the upcoming thriller titled ‘Violence of Action’. The film is being helmed by Tarik Saleh and has been written by J.P. Davis. The movie is currently filming and does not have a release date yet.
However, we do know that Pine plays the role of a man who has been involuntarily discharged from the Marines. With all his training, the man decides that he will provide for his family in the way he knows best, that is, by joining a paramilitary organization that is involved in dangerous missions. One of his missions involves going to Poland with an elite team of fellow Black Ops operatives to investigate a potential mysterious threat. The operation in Poland goes south rather quickly and Pine’s character finds himself being hunted by formidable forces in Eastern Europe. He must use all his skills, resources and a little bit of luck, to get back home to the ones he loves, and get to the bottom of who betrayed him, at the same time.
Pine is a versatile actor and has the skills to play a hunted Black Ops agent. He is likely to channel his prowess and base his acting on the character of Jack Ryan. Undoubtedly, Pine will be looking to impress once the movie releases.
2. Newsflash (TBA)
Bringing the news to the public is an enormous task, which is important and calls for a high amount of responsibility. While newsreaders or anchors read out the news, they often have to recount instances of grave horror, that they too realize will go on to change the course of history.
‘Newsflash’ the upcoming biographical drama seeks to tell one such story. It is being helmed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon and has been written by Ben Jacoby. The movie is set in 1963 and recounts the events of November 22. In case you can’t place your finger on why the date is important, it is because John F. Kennedy, the President of the US at that time, was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. CBS anchorman Walter Cronkite, who is legendary in his own right, was given the task of reporting the news live.
Pine is all set to play the role of Cronkite and the actor will have to bring a fantastic performance to convey the emotions involved in the project. Apart from Pine, Mark Ruffalo is also attached to the movie. Other notable characters in ‘Newsflash’ include Don Hewitt, Cronkite’s producer, Jim Aubrey, the boss, and Dan Rather, a young co-worker.

1. All the Old Knives (TBA)
We might let go of the past, but does the past let go of us? Do we really move on from instances that shake us to our core, even though they might slip from the immediacy of memory as time passes by? These are the questions raised by the upcoming thriller ‘All the Old Knives’. It is a spy movie being helmed by James Marsh, based on Olen Steinhauer’s 2015 novel. He has also come up with the screenplay for the movie.
The plot follows two CIA agents who were once romantically involved with each other. They reconnect at the idyllic Carmel-by-the-Sea, six years after a failed mission, and they both seem to have moved on. However, they are plagued by the fact that one of them might have been compromised a cat and mouse game ensues between the people who are accustomed to leading double lives.
Pine stars alongside Michelle Williams in the movie. The actors will definitely put up a good performance, to accentuate the tight plot of the film. If their chemistry works, then ‘All the Old Knives’ would be a thrilling watch, where there is a trace of mistrust and nostalgia of a known relationship. Not much else is known about the plot at the moment, but Pine’s charm will come in handy while he plays the role of a spy.
