Control Z Season 3: Everything We Know

‘Control Z’ is a mystery drama series that centers around the tumultuous lives of the students of the National School, who find themselves tormented by mysterious villains. A pandora’s box of dark secrets about the student body is revealed, which sets off a breathless and violent sequence of events that encompasses everyone in the school. Created by Carlos Quintanilla Sakar, Adriana Pelusi, and Miguel García Moreno, the show premiered in May 2020 and opened to positive reviews from audiences and critics alike.

Season 2 of Netflix’s Mexican teen drama continues to raise the stakes as students and faculty members begin to get mortally harmed, and even the clear-eyed central character Sofia finds her grasp on the situation slipping. A truly brutal cliffhanger has us clamoring for another season, which can’t come fast enough. If you feel the same, you’ve come to the right place. Here’s everything we know about ‘Control Z’ season 3.

Control Z Season 3 Release Date

‘Control Z’ season 2 premiered in its entirety on August 4, 2021, on Netflix. The season consists of 8 episodes, each with a run time of 30 to 40 minutes.

As far as season 3 is concerned, there are still no official announcements as to whether it has been greenlit or canceled. However, fans have many reasons to remain hopeful for a potential season 3 as the show’s story is far from being concluded. Like season 1, the follow-up season also ends in a brutal cliffhanger that leaves many plot points unresolved and raises even more questions. Multiple story arcs, like that of Sofia’s father, have continued since the show’s beginning and remain incomplete, making it likely that the original narrative was planned to continue for multiple seasons.

Therefore, despite the show not being greenlit for a third season yet, there is a high probability that the show’s co-creators Carlos Quintanilla and Miguel García already have a good idea about what a potential season 3 will entail. Of course, viewership numbers continue to be a major factor in the show getting renewed for subsequent seasons.

Season 2 was given the go-ahead by Netflix about a week after the premiere of the inaugural season. Considering the aforementioned factors, we might have to wait until the season 2 viewership numbers are analyzed and the streaming platform decides whether to renew the show for a third installment or cancel it. The relatively favorable reviews of the show portend at least 1 more season. Given the release cycles of previous seasons, we can expect to see ‘Control Z’ season 3 sometime in mid-2022.

Control Z Season 3 Cast: Who can be in it?

The show’s cast, which predominantly depicts characters who are students of the National School, is led by Ana Valeria Becerril, who essays Sofia. She is helped by her loyal friend Javier (Michael Ronda) and obsessed over by her classmate Raúl (Yankel Stevan). Other notable classmates that play significant roles are Isabela (Zión Moreno), Luis (Luis Curiel), Alex (Samantha Acuña), Natalia (Macarena Garcia Romero), Maria (Fiona Palomo), Pablo (Andres Baida), Gerry (Patricio Gallardo), Dario (Iván Aragón), Ernesto (Xabiani Ponce de León), Rosita (Patricia Maqueo), and Valeria (Kariam Castro).

The school’s principal is Quintanilla (Rodrigo Cachero), who has an affair with Sofia’s mother Nora (Rocío Verdejo). Supporting characters also include Bruno (Mauro Sanchez Navarro), Gabriela (Lidia San José), Susana (Thanya López), and Lulú (Renata del Castillo). In a potential season 3, we expect most of the cast members to reprise their roles, with the notable exception of Thanya López, whose character Susana dies in the season 2 finale. Though Luis Curiel’s character, Luis, is also dead, he is likely to show up in flashbacks in possible future seasons.

Control Z Season 3 Plot: What can it be About?

Season 2 closes with Alex being discovered as the avenger who has been violently tormenting the school’s students in an effort to make them experience the same remorse she is going through. She is driven by the tragic death of her friend Luis and the possible departure of her lover Gabriela. In the tense final moments, a standoff on the school’s roof results in a fight over a bag of money, and the school’s new principal, Susana, falls off the edge.

The potential season 3 will likely open with the students present grappling with the brutal death of their principal. Since much of the standoff was streamed on social media, Sofia, Javier, Raúl, Gerry, Alex, and others could be incriminated in the potential murder. Raúl will also likely begin to hunt down his former friend Pablo, who makes off with all of the former’s money in the closing moments of season 2. Once again, we can expect the students of National School to be tormented by another classmate, or possibly an external character, for their self-serving actions. The former principal Quintanilla returning as a villainous character could prove to be a worthy plot point, if the show comes back for round 3.
