Curb Your Enthusiasm S10 E06: What’s In Store?

Seinfeld’s co-creator, Larry David seems to have mastered the art of “shows about nothing.” ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ is another offering by Larry that fits this mold but manages to suit modern sensibilities.

The show follows Larry David in a fictionalized and exaggerated version of himself. Being a sitcom, ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ tackles the routine conflicts of its protagonist as his outspokenness lands him in multiple, tricky situations.

Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 10 Episode 5 Recap:

The fifth episode of the tenth season of ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ is titled ‘Insufficient Praise.’ Larry gets a sex doll delivered to his place, most probably as a form of prank. On the other hand, Larry decides to install urinals with a new design at his cafe. In case you forgot, Larry’s cafe is a result of his rivalry with Mocha Joe. Anyway, Larry wants to introduce a no-defecation rule in the cafe. Meanwhile, Mocha Joe has secured financial backing from Larry’s rival, Ted Danson.

Richard makes Larry meet his new girlfriend, Carol. Larry gives Carol his stole after they discuss how cold it is. The stole belongs to Larry’s late mother and when he tells Carol that, she starts to cry. Larry offers to let Carol keep the stole but wants it back when Richard tells him that Carol is a “professional crier.” Later, Richard visits Larry. He tells him that Carol dumped him after he tried to get Larry’s stole back.

At home, Larry finds the sex doll on his couch, blown up. Matilda is a new housekeeper that Larry hires. She also works for Jeff and Susie. Matilda quits her job at Susie’s due to her foul-mouthedness. Hence, Larry agrees to hire Matilda during the slots that she used to go to Susie’s despite having promised Susie not to do so. Since Matilda is a sensitive woman, Larry tells her that he collects dolls, instead of revealing what a sex doll is.

Susie is angry that Matilda quit since she has to do all the household work herself. To make matters worse, Clive Owen is coming over. After returning home, Larry tries to deflate the sex doll. However, in the process, he scandalizes Matilda and Cheryl who walk in on Larry putting his body weight on the doll. Then, Larry decides to give the sex doll away to Uncle Moke.

Towards the end of the episode, Carol and Larry fight over the stole on the street. The stole falls down and Carol rushes to grab it. However, she has stepped in front of oncoming traffic and the episode ends in a cliffhanger.
