How did Dan Marino earn his money and wealth?

Dan Marino was born in 1961. He is a retired football quarterback born in Pittsburg who played for the Miami Dolphins for 17 seasons. Marino was the first choice for the draft pick in the history of the United States Football League, and was selected by the Los Angeles Express. However, He rejected the offer and chose to sign with the Dolphins as a backup for David Woodley. As a rookie, Marino set and broke several records: he posted a 96 passer rating, he was selected as a rookie to the Pro Bowl, he had the lowermost percentage of passes stopped with 2.03 and Marino was the only rookie quarterback to lead a conference in passing.

The Dolphins ended the season with a 12-4 record and entered to the AFC divisional playoffs, where Marino, in his playoff debut,  threw two touchdown passes. In 1992, Marino again led the team Dolphins to the Championship game of AFC while passing for 4,116 and 24 touchdowns. His scores led the entire NFL for the fifth time in passing. In 1993, Miami was strongly preferred at the beginning of the year to make it to the AFC championship game and probably the Super Bowl. However, in Cleveland, after throwing a swing pass at a game, Marino wrinkled to the ground in pain with a torn Achilles tendon and was out of the series due to injury. Marino later said in a statement, “I felt like I got kicked”.

Scott Mitchell, a Backup quarterback, had a remarkable series of starts before suffering an injury of his own. In his place, Steve DeBerg began the last four games of the season. After this, Mitchell signed a contract with the Detroit Lions, and Miami as a backup signed experienced quarterback Bernie Kosar from the Dallas Cowboys. On one foot, wearing a special shoe and wearing a right calf that was visibly emaciated, Marino was the starting quarterback at the inaugural of the 1994 season.

Marino achieved his final win in his first playoff road as the Dolphins won by defeating the Seattle Seahawks in 2000. Marino decided to retire, before the 2000 season. He rejected offers from Tampa Bay, Minnesota, and Pittsburgh when the Dolphins dropped his option on his contract.

He retired in 2000 in January because he was not sure that his legs will accompany him in the next season. During his career, he was the highest-ranking Dolphin player and listed in top 100 football players till date in 1999. Marino married Claire D. Veazey in 1985.
