Dancing With The Stars 2021: Everything We Know

Gleb Savchenko From Dancing With The Stars

‘Dancing With the Stars’, the American rendition of the superhit eponymous franchise, had originally dropped on ABC in June 2005. The format for the dance competition is pretty simple — celebrity-professional pairs are judged by a panel of renowned ballroom experts. Following a series of weekly eliminations, the last pair standing is crowned as the winner for the season.

The reality show, which released its 29th edition in September 2020, does see a change in the overall format, due to COVID-19 restrictions. However, it managed to garner the same level of appreciation from fans. And this makes us wonder when will ‘Dancing With the Stars’ return to tv screens. Let’s dive right in.

Dancing With The Stars 2021 Release Date:

‘Dancing With the Stars’ season 29 premiered on September 14, 2020, on ABC. It wrapped up with its 11th episode on November 23, 2020. Although the cabler has not renewed the show yet, it is only a matter of time before we receive an official confirmation. DWTS continues to be a rating generator for ABC because of which it returned even in COVID-inflicted 2020. If given a go-ahead in the next couple of months, we can expect ‘Dancing With the Stars’ season 30 to premiere sometime in Fall 2021.

NOTE: Since 2007, the show has seen two annual releases — during the months of Spring and Fall respectively. 2006 also saw two releases — season 2 in January and season 3 in September. However, in 2019 and 2020, we had only one annual release (in September), and hence, we expect the series to continue following this updated schedule in the near future. If there are any additional changes, we will update this section accordingly.

Dancing With The Stars 2021 Cast: Judges, Hosts, And Celebrities

In season 29, the experts seated in the judging panel include returning judges, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli. Derek Hough takes his new spot at the panel, after replacing Len Goodman, who could not make it due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. The host for season 29 is Tyra Banks, replacing Tom Bergeron. Season 30 is expected to see Banks resuming her hosting duties, accompanied by Inaba, Tonioli, and Hough/Goodman as the judges.

The celebrities featured in the 2020 edition include Monica Aldama, Carole Baskin, Kaitlyn Bristowe, Vernon Davis, Anne Heche, Skai Jackson, Justina Machado, AJ McLean, Jeannie Mai, Jesse Metcalfe, Nelly, Nev Schulman, Charles Oakley, Chrishell Stause, and Johnny Weir. The celeb-pro couples making to the finale are Kaitlyn and Artem, Justina and Sasha, Nelly and Daniella, and Nev and Jenna. Season 30 will introduce a fresh roster of celebrity contestants.

What Can Dancing With The Stars 2021 be About?

Each season of DWTS introduces us to an all-new cast of celebs, who are paired with professional dancers. Each week, these duos go through a rigorous rehearsal routine and then perform on-stage after mastering new dance styles and technical choreography. They are judged by the expert panel and are voted by viewers. In the end, the pair with the highest combination of judges’ scores and audience votes is declared as the winner. They take home the coveted Mirrorball trophy. Of course, season 30 will stick to the same format, with changes introduced in the types of challenges and routines.
