Domhnall Gleeson is an Irish actor and writer. Gleeson comes from a family that has been in the show business. He is the son of Irish actor and director Brendan Gleeson, alongside whom he has appeared in several films and theater projects. However, Gleeson initially did not want to have anything to do with acting since he thought people would believe that his father got him the role. Interestingly, that is why he was initially reluctant to appear as Bill Weasely in the Harry Potter movies since his father played the role of Alastor Moody in the films.
Coming back to Gleeson’s works, he directed and wrote several short films in the early stages of his career. He managed to gain a Tony nomination for ‘The Lieutenant of Inishmore’. After gaining widespread recognition due to the Harry Potter role, Gleeson went on to appear in ‘Anna Karenina’ and ‘About Time’. In 2015 he shot to fame with his appearances in four Academy Award-nominated movies including ‘Ex Machina‘, ‘Brooklyn’, and ‘The Revenant‘. He has also appeared as General Hux in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ and ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’.
In 2017, Gleeson appeared alongside his brother Brian in ‘Mother!’. His other works include ‘American Made’, ‘Goodbye Christopher Robin’ and a live-action adaptation of ‘Peter Rabbit’. So now you must be wondering what is the next Domhnall Gleeson movie or TV show? Well, here’s the list of upcoming Domhnall Gleeson films and TV shows scheduled to release in the near future. We can only hope that the new Domhnall Gleeson performances would be as good as some of his recent ones.
3. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ is an upcoming epic space opera film that is a continuation of the ‘Star Wars’ franchise. J.J. Abrams is helming the project. The events of the film are set one year after the events of ‘The Last Jedi’. The movie will see the end of the conflict between the Sith and the Jedi. As the remnants of the Resistance go up against the First Order once more, they have to come face to face with their past and all the inner turmoil. Even as the battle between the Jedi and Sith reaches a climax, the Skywalker saga will come to an end with this film.
‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ is slated to release on December 20, 2019. Domhnall Gleeson reprises his role as Armitage Hux, the second in command of the First Order. Since Domhnall has already played this role in two previous ‘Star Wars’ films, the actor has an idea of what is expected of the character but we are sure that Gleeson will do justice to the role, bringing the saga to a befitting end.
2. Peter Rabbit 2 (2020)
‘Peter Rabbit 2‘ is a follow up to the 2018 movie, ‘Peter Rabbit’. Not much is known about the plot at the moment. However, we do know that Domhnall Gleeson is going to reprise his role as Thomas McGregor. The movie picks up from where the previous film left off, as we see Peter Rabbit continuing his adventures on the road. Rose Byrne appears as Bea in the movie. In the first movie, James Corden voiced Peter, while Margot Robbie voiced Flopsy. Corden is once again returning to the role.
Notably, the first film did not do too well, but hopefully, Domhnall Gleeson and the rest of the cast will manage to amaze us in the upcoming film. All eyes will specifically be on Corden who hit back at the critics of the first film, calling them snobbish. ‘Peter Rabbit 2’ is based on Beatrix Potter’s classic children’s book and the cast members will be hoping to turn around the audience reaction with the sequel. It releases on April 3, 2020.
