The family will head to the City of Angels, hoping to get through this tough phase as a unit. But things will get difficult when the rental they are supposed to stay in turns out to be uninhabitable. Furthermore, things on the medical front will also cause trouble for Deon and his family. The hospital treating Diez will undergo a sudden change in their Covid-19 protocols, which might interfere with the young boy’s scheduled surgery.
Doubling Down with the Derricos Season 2 Episode 6 Recap
In the 6th episode titled ‘Lit Christmas,’ the family geared up for an exciting Christmas celebration in the house. Other than keeping the children busy, it also served as an effective distraction from Diez’s surgery so that by the time he arrived home, they would all be in a good mood. That way, Diez won’t feel singled out. Apart from that, Deon had been saving up to renovate the house and make it bigger. As Diez’s treatment has been scheduled to happen out of town, Deon understood that it is better to leave parts of the family behind instead of traveling as a family if he didn’t want to incur living expenses for 18 people.
But later, they ended up finding a cheaper rental which made them reconsider their plan. The second concern Deon seemed to have is GG’s deteriorating health. If it doesn’t get any better, he might have to hire a nanny to look after the kids. Deon took her for a checkup, and the doctor confirmed that she is too fragile to take care of children. On top of that, GG previously had a terrifying encounter with lung cancer that had taken a toll on her health, so Deon understandably didn’t want to overburden her. In the end, he requested Karen to think about hiring a nanny, and she agreed. But as Christmas approached, it slipped out of Deon’s head and disappeared in the commotion that followed.
Deon even arranged for the house to be renovated when the family would be taking off for the trip. At the Christmas celebration, Eric unexpectedly showed up and proposed to fill in as a nanny, although the kids have always seen him as their respected uncle. His decision to watch over the family came in as a blessing needed at the most opportune moment.
