How much is Dustin Moskovitz worth? $14 billion
How did Dustin Moskovitz earn his money and wealth?
Dustin Moskovitz is an American internet entrepreneur and is a co-founder of Facebook. Born in Gainesville, Florida on May 22, 1984, he attended Harvard University before dropping out after two years and going to work on Facebook full time. Moskovitz married Cari Tuna who works on a private foundation that the couple started, Good Ventures. She is also part of the Open Philanthropy Project. She used to be a writer at the Yale Daily News as well as a journalist at the Wall Street Journal.
Moskovitz has been an avid supporter of the Democratic Party candidates and is known to have voted for them in all elections. However, he writes “Though we’ve voted for the Democratic nominee each of the times we’ve cast a ballot, we’ve considered ourselves independent thinkers who respect candidates and positions from both sides of the aisle.” Before they donated for the 2016 election cycle, there was roughly $10,000 worth of money that Moskovitz and Tuna had donated to federal candidates in their lifetime. Most of their donations were made for Sean Eldridge, who is the husband of the co-founder of Facebook Chris Hughes. Thereafter, during the 2016 United States Presidential election, the couple donated $20 million to show their support for nominee Hillary Clinton, acknowledging the dangers a Trump presidency was likely to bring.
Dustin was the part of the team of four friends who invented Facebook, which was originally known as thefacebook.com and was meant to be an online directory of Harvard’s students before it blew up and became a global phenomenon. He, along with other co-founders took a year off from college and started working on this project.
His position in Facebook was that of the chief technology officer, but later he also became vice president of engineering where he was in charge of the architecture of the site. In 2008, he left Facebook and formed his own company “Asana”. Also, he invested in another site “Path” which is a photo-sharing site.
Moskovitz has opened his own charity “Good Ventures”, which is managed by his wife Cari Tuna. Also, they work closely with other charities like GiveWell. The charity has donated upward of $100 million since it was founded in 2011. In 2011, Dustin Moskovitz became the world’s youngest self-made billionaire in part due to his 2.34% share in Facebook and also his other ventures.
