High School Musical: The Musical: The Series Season 2 Episode 9 Recap

In the ninth episode titled ‘Spring Break,’ Gina’s flight to Louisiana gets delayed, and she prepares herself for a day of relentless boredom. But a random boy pops up next to her, initiating a conversation. Although Gina is initially reluctant, she is intrigued by his striking personality. Rather than sitting alone and doing nothing, she befriends him, and a few moments later, they put on a show to get free access to the airport lounge, where they bond over a variety of topics.

Meanwhile, Miss Jenn invites the gang for a video call session to motivate them for the upcoming opening night. Ricky is the only one absent at which Miss Jenn instinctively asks Nini if she knows about him. Nini gets awkward, and Big Red chimes in to inform them that Ricky is in Chicago with his mother. Speaking of which, Ricky is curled up in his bed as Lynne tries to talk to him. But he is mad at her for prioritizing her boyfriend over Ricky and his dad. She explains that the only reason she brought Todd over to his hometown earlier was to let Ricky in on her personal life, and he ultimately understands that.

In Salt Lake City, Nini goes live on Instagram to notify the world about her latest musical ideas. But after she closes the app, we see an empty notebook implying that she is in a slump. In the end, Gina’s flight gets canceled, and she is advised to go back home by her mother. But she feels sad about leaving her new friend, who, at this point, is clearly into her. After they finally part ways, Gina runs into EJ, who had been waiting to take her home, and as soon as he turns away, we see her break into a coy smile.
