The ever-expanding mystery of ‘Home Before Dark’ season 2 continues to grow as a shadowy aeronautical company is revealed to be the town’s benefactor. To complicate things further, the head of the company turns out to be an avid reader of Hilde’s articles. Things seem calm on the surface, but the young journalist is convinced that a conspiracy is afoot, to say nothing of her secretive grandfather who likely holds many of the town’s deepest secrets. ‘Home Before Dark’ season 2 episode 5 will premiere on July 9, 2021, at 3 am ET on Apple TV+. New episodes of the show are released every Friday, with the season finale scheduled for August 13, 2021. Season 2 contains 10 episodes of approximately 1 hour each.

Home Before Dark Season 2 Episode 5 Spoilers
Episode 5 is titled ‘The Black Box,’ which refers to the device found by Donny inside the downed plane. Considering the black box stores flight data and cockpit conversations, we will likely get some explosive information from the recovered device which could also connect Stratatech Industries, who are responsible for covering up the pond, to the mysterious Wott Management. The CEO of Stratatech is also an intriguing character who seems suspiciously agreeable and we might see some of his darker deeds in the upcoming episode.
Hilde’s grandfather’s secrets might also play a part in episode 5 as the old man seems to be getting increasingly active. A crucial part in helping Hilde solve her previous case in season 1, her grandfather is a trove of secrets that he keeps notoriously well guarded. Hence, he most likely has at least some of the answers that the young ace reporter is looking for and could reveal them.
With the discovery about the deaths of his father’s friends from the photograph, many of them untimely, Matt also finds himself now intrigued by his father’s story. Being an investigative journalist himself, we can expect to see Matt chasing down clues to figure out how his father’s friends died. He may find that his father is ailing from the same disease that killed his friends, possibly from spending time at the town’s pond which Hilde believes was poisoned.
Home Before Dark Season 2 Episode 4 Recap
Episode 4 finds Hilde following a lead to the large aeronautics company called Stratatech Industries. Though the company’s CEO is agreeable and a big fan of her writing, Hilde finds a suspicious symbol in their building that connects them to Wott Management, the faceless corporation she’s pursuing. Hilde then remembers that she saw the same symbol in the basement of a now-abandoned mansion, where she now heads with her accomplices Donny and Spoon. Upon reaching the mansion, the trio discovers a defunct plane hidden in its basement and Donny is able to extract its black box.
Hilde’s grandfather also shows signs that he is not completely overtaken by dementia and might actually be holding onto some important secrets. An old photograph of him with his friends sends Matt looking for the people in the photograph, only to learn that they are all dead except for his father. We also briefly see the secretive grandpa access the small compartment behind his bed to once again hide his diary.
