iCarly Reboot Episode 8 Recap
In the eighth episode of the ‘iCarly’ reboot titled ‘iLove Gwen,’ Carly and her friends try to revive Freddie’s dormant love life. His ex-wife Gwen walks into their building to meet her daughter Millicent. The rest of the gang, including Freddie, seem okay with her sudden arrival. Seconds later, Carly meets her outside the door and, without anybody taking notice, pulls her into a hug as if they’ve been best friends for ages. Carly is reluctant to openly accept her as a friend in case it hurts Freddie.
After some time, Carly and her friends begin to absorb subtle clues indicating that their new guest Gwen wants to get back with Freddie. So they stage a setup for the estranged pair to remind them of their first-ever date together. Carly and her clan decorate the apartment with scented candles and an intimate dinner table for two just before the divorced couple step inside. Their impromptu date goes surprisingly well, but it does nothing to change their current equation. Gwen reveals that she is comfortable being friends with him, and their time as lovers ended long back.
Although Gwen is not into Freddie anymore, she holds his hand for a second, implying that she still cares about him. Carly and Millicent, however, assume that this gesture is meant to be romantic and then decide to bring them together through a grand soliloquy presented by Millicent in her school play. The moment when Carly discovers the truth, she plants herself into the scene right before the speech with Millicent staring in horror and manages to stop it before it turns into a mess.
