How much is Ice Cube Worth? $160 million.
How did Ice Cube earn his wealth and money?
O’Shea Jackson Sr. is more commonly known as Ice Cube. He is an American rapper, actor, songwriter, screenwriter, record producer, and entrepreneur. He is one of the founding artists of gangsta rap. He initially gained acknowledgment during his gigs as the chief songwriter and performer of the seminal hip-hop groups called C.I.A. and N.W.A. The N.W.A was notorious for going beyond the limitations of the lyrical and video content in mainstream popular music.
He departed from N.W.A. in 1989 and went on to start a very fruitful solo career with the release of first two albums – “AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted” (1990) and “Death Certificate” (1991). Both these albums are Platinum in the U.S.A. They are also considered crucial albums of the 1990s, because of Ice Cube’s harsh but honest socio-political commentary. This is one of the reasons why Cube’s included in one of the best rap artists of all times.
Ice Cube has seven more albums to date: “The Predator” (1992), “Lethal Injection” (1993), “War & Peace Vol. 1 (The War Disc)” (1998), “War & Peace Vol. 2 (The Peace Disc)” (2000), “Laugh Now, Cry Later” (2006), “Raw Footage” (2008), and “I Am the West” (2010). His fourth album, “The Predator”, debuted at number 1, preceded by the single “It Was a Good Day”. He has collaborated on albums four times – 1987, 1988, 1996, and 2003 – with the N.W.A and the Westside Connection (twice with each group).
After the release of his second album, his fame was multiplied when he starred in the critically acclaimed movie “Boyz n the Hood” (1991). This popularity was further intensified by his contribution, as actor and writer, to the “Friday” film series. He has been part of various movies, including “Barbershop”, “XXX” film series, “Ride Along”. Ice Cube has also produced some films, such as “Straight Outta Compton” (2015) which is a biopic based on the career of N.W.A. Ice Cube is also an entrepreneur; he has founded his clothing line, “Solo by Cube”, and the 3-on-3 basketball league named “BIG3”, which significantly features retired NBA players. He has endorsed St. Ides malt liquor and is currently endorsing Coors Light Beer.
Ice Cube has never won a Grammy even though he is one of the most famous and liked acts of the hip-hop music genre. In 2017, he was inducted into the Walk of Fame. He is a crowd favorite, as can be seen from the facts that he has been nominated for People’s Choice, Teen Choice, and for a BFFs Forever award at the Kid’s Choice Awards. He has also won an “I Am Hip Hop” award at the BETs and the Quincy Jones Award, with numerous other awards.
