How did Jimmy Buffett earn his money and wealth?
Jimmy Buffett aka James William Buffett is a multifaceted man who is a singer, songwriter, actor, author, and businessman. He was born on December 25, 1946, in Pascagoula, Mississippi. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1969. After he completed his graduation, Buffett joined Billboard magazine in Nashville. He was the first person to report on the breakup of the band “Flatt and Scruggs”.
Buffett started his musical career by releasing a folk album “Down to Earth (1970) after he shifted his base to Nashville, Tennessee. Whilst still trying to establish himself as a musician, Buffett would often be busking for tourists in New Orleans as well as Key West. Buffett released more albums like “A White Sport Coat and a Pink Crustacean” (1973), “Living & Dying in ¾ Time” (1973), A1A (1973), Havana Daydreamin’ (1976) and “Changes in Latitude, Changes in Attitude” (1977) which included “Margaritaville”, his breakthrough hit single. His next album “License to Chill” released in 2004 and “Take the Weather with You” in 2006. This album included “Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On” a single he made in honor of Hurricane Katrina’s survivors. He also released “Encores” (2010) which was a compilation of his live performances in the years 2009 and 2010. He also held many concert tours.
Buffett through his long musical career has collaborated with many artists. In 2000 he had performed in the White House to then-President Bill Clinton, with the Coral Reefer Band. He sang the duet “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere” (2003) with Alan Jackson and won Vocal Event of the Year Award from Country Music Association. He has also sung with the Zac Brown Band for the song “Knee Deep” (2010).
Apart from singing, Buffett also ventured into writing, merchandising and even acting. He opened “Margaritaville”, a retail store in 1985 and “Margaritaville Café” in 1987 at Key West. “Tales from Margaritaville”, Where is Joe Merchant?” and “A Pirate Looks at Fifty” are some of his best seller books. He has written five books and co-authored two books. Buffett has done cameo appearances in movies such as “From the Earth to the Moon” (1998), “Hoot” (2006), “Jurassic World” (2015) and “NCIS: New Orleans” (2017).
Buffett has been married two times, first to Margie Washicheck in 1969. His second wife was Jane Slagsvol. From this marriage, they are parents to two daughters, Savannah Jane and Sarah Delaney and an adopted son, Cameron Marley.
