Holiday-themed movies are in a league of their own, especially when it comes to highlighting the festive spirit of Christmas. ‘Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey’ is one such production that really hits the spot with its grand musical numbers and family-centric narrative. Plus, it’s exactly the kind of film we’d indulge in (with our loved ones, of course) on Christmas morning. So we wondered if there was any scope of a sequel, and here’s what we have uncovered. (Before we start, we just want to point out that the movie is referenced to as ‘Jingle Jangle’ for the sake of simplicity.)
Jingle Jangle Sequel Release Date
‘Jingle Jangle’ released on November 13, 2020, on the streaming platform, Netflix. It was also no surprise that it opened to rave reviews about the musical numbers and fast-paced plot. Furthermore, it is also one of the few Christmas themed films to feature a diverse cast list, which is highly appreciated in today’s world.
For these reasons, we believe that it definitely merits a part two. However, as of now, there is no news about any such project on the horizon. Considering everything, if the sequel were to be greenlit, then we can expect it to release sometime in 2023 or later. Naturally, we feel that the second installment would air around Christmas time.
Jingle Jangle Sequel Cast: Who can be in it?
The film revolves around Jeronicus Jangle (Forest Whitaker), a brilliant yet down on his luck inventor, who has been duped by his former apprentice, Gustafson (Keegan-Michael Key). When the former’s granddaughter, Journey (Madalen Mills), comes to visit him, the pair embarks on a journey to truly construct something magical that could also alter their lives forever.
Since it is a Christmas movie, and good always triumphs over evil, it seems unlikely that Keegan-Michael Key will reprise his role. However, as for the grandfather-granddaughter duo, we think that they will likely make a comeback. Apart from this, Hugh Bonneville plays Mr. Delacroix, Anika Noni Rose is Jessica Jangle, Phylicia Rashad portrays Mrs. Jangle, and Ricky Martin appears as Don Juan Diego. We don’t think that they will be featured in the sequel.
Jingle Jangle Sequel Plot: What can it be About?
In ‘Jingle Jangle,’ we meet Jeronicus Jangle, the finest inventor in all the lands who once had everything that made a man (conventionally) successful— a happy family and a booming toy store. But when his apprentice, Gustafson, takes it all away from him, Jeronicus is transformed into the mere husk of his former self. One day, his granddaughter, Journey, enters his life. Together, the two embark on a mission to create a spectacular toy that will change their lives forever.
So what can we expect from the sequel? Well, the next installment may also be centered around Christmas and the idea that good always wins. Now that Jeronicus has been able to deal with his unfortunate situation, it could be possible that he teams up with Journey to spread light in the lives of many others. Or, we could also see them aim to create a toy that is bigger and better than ever before, which a new villain would definitely want to steal. However, the possibilities are endless, and as for the specific plot that filmmakers will choose, it is anybody’s guess.
