CBS’s 1959-released ‘The Twilight Zone’ is an anthology television series, helmed by Rod Serling, which ran for five seasons up to 1964. The show, which is a mix of science-fiction, paranormal, and Kafkaesque elements, progressed to become one of the greatest cult-hits ever to air on television. As a result, it has been revived three times, with the latest reboot dropping on CBS All Access in 2019.
The 2019 version stays faithful to the original material — comprising standalone episodes, with each story revolving around disturbing or unusual events. Narrator and co-developer, Jordan Peele, replaces Serling in the latest revival, which introduces a contemporary twist to the classic series. After having spanned two incredible seasons, the modern rendition has been dubbed as ‘thought-provoking’ and ‘timeless’. Now if you are curious about its next potential outing, scroll down!
The Twilight Zone Season 3 Release Date:
‘The Twilight Zone’ season 2 released on June 25, 2020, on CBS All Access, in all its entirety of 10 episodes. The second edition was renewed in April 2019 (halfway through the first-season run) and noting its favorable response, we expect to hear news of a third outing in the coming weeks. Filming for both the previous seasons commenced in October 2018 and 2019 respectively. If CBS follows a similar schedule and shooting begins in Fall 2020, we can expect ‘The Twilight Zone’ season 3 to premiere sometime in Spring 2021.
The Twilight Zone Season 3 Cast: Who Can be in it?
Season 3 will definitely mark the return of Jordan Peele as the narrator. He will continue to summarize the stories while explaining why the characters in a certain tale enter the Twilight Zone. However, since the show is conceptualized in an anthology format, each season and each episode comprises a rotating roster of established stars and younger actors. Some of the notable actors in season 2 include Morena Baccarin, Tony Hale, Billy Porter, Christopher Meloni, Joel McHale, Jimmi Simpson, Gillian Jacobs, Topher Grace, Jurnee Smollett, and Damon Wayans Jr. among others. Season 3 will stick to the same format and rope in a fresh bunch of talented stars.
The Twilight Zone Season 3 Plot: What Can it be About?
In this anthology science-fiction drama, each episode narrates a spine-chilling story, which is usually about a weird, inexplicable occurrence. However, every stand-alone tale is thematically linked through a common concept — the different circumstances that push people into the Twilight Zone. As quoted by Rod Serling himself, “There is a fifth dimension, beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man’s fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call The Twilight Zone.” Needless to say, season 3 will embrace this same ideology while bringing forth a bunch of equally intriguing, free-standing, and thematically linked stories.
