Julia Scarlett Elizabeth Louis-Dreyfus was born in New York City. In the early span of her work, Dreyfus performed in The Second City, which is best known as an improvisation theater group in Chicago. It was another performance with The Practical Theatre Company at their “Golden 50th Anniversary Jubilee” that gave her the opportunity to be cast for NBC’s Saturday Night Live. After departing from SNL, Dreyfus was cast in multiple movies such a Hannah and Her Sisters (1986); Soul Man (1986), and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989).
