Kelly Rowland aka Kelendria Trene Rowland was born on February 11, 1981, at Atlanta, Georgia. Rowland is a singer, songwriter, and actress who rose to fame as a member of Destiny’s Child trio. Prior to joining Destiny’s Child, she was a participant in the talent show “Star Search”. Rowlands began her professional musical career with Destiny’s Child and released twelve music albums as a band along with Beyonce and Michelle Williams as bandmates. Their first album “Destiny’s Child” (1998) included hit single “No, No, No” and their second album “The Writing’s on the Wall” (1999) included hit singles “Jumpin’ Jumpin’”, “Bills, Bills, Bills” and “Say My Name”. “Say My Name” won two Grammy’s in 2001 – Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group Vocals. Singles such as “Independent Women Part I’ (2000) was a hit which featured in the film “Charlie’s Angels” (2001). They released their third album “Survivor” in 2001.

Rowland took a break from Destiny’s Child and tried to establish a solo career in music. She released “Simply Deep” in 2002 which included the hit duet with Nelly “Dilemma”. It won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Song/Sung Collaboration. Rowland regrouped with her other bandmates from Destiny’s Child and released another album “Destiny Fulfilled” in 2004. They received a star on the “Hollywood Walk of Fame” in 2006.

Rowland followed up her solo album with another one in 2007 and titled it “Ms. Kelly”. Her latest sing released in 2015 and it was titled “Dumb”. Rowland has collaborated with other artists such as Nelly, Eve in “Like This” (2007), David Guetta in “When Love Takes Over” (2009) amongst others.

Rowland has also pursued a career in acting; she played Carly in “The Hughleys” (2002) and made her big-screen debut in 2003 when she starred in “Freddy vs Jason” in 2003. She has also appeared in the film “The Seat Filler” (2005). She has also been a part of the Tv drama series “Empire” since 2015. In 2017 she was a part of the TV film “Love by the 10th Date” where she played the role of Margot Scotts. Rowland became a part of “The Voice Australia” when she replaced Jessie J as a coach in 2016.
