Kenny Smith was born on March 8, 1965. He is an American former professional basketball player who played in the NBA and other big teams like Atlanta Hawks. Smith was selected as the 6th pick of the 1987 NBA draft as the point guard by the Sacramento Kings. He was selected to the NBA All-Rookie Team after averaging 7.1 assists and 13.8 points per game for the Kings. Smith started his NBA career playing for Bill Russell, Hall of Famer, who was the coach for Kings till 87-88 season.
Smith was shifted to the Atlanta Hawks in the middle of the 1989–90 season, where he was selected as a reserve player. Smith played only 5 of the 38 games for the Hawks. After the season of 1989–90, Smith was signed by the Houston Rockets, where he spent the next six seasons.
