Kodak Black, real name Dieuson Octave, was born on 11 June 1997 in Florida, USA. Both of his parents were migrants from Halti. He began rapping while he was in elementary school and started going to a local trap house after the school hours to record music. He chose the username ‘Kodak Black’ for himself when he decided to join Instagram. He, later on, started using the name as his stage name when he began to rap.

Kodak Black is not only an American rapper but is also a songwriter. In 2009, he joined a rap group known as ‘Brutal Youngnz’ at the age of 12 and used a stage name ‘J-Black’ then. The same month, Kodak Black was named as one of the XXL magazine’s ‘2016 Freshman Class.’ He released the single titled ‘Can I’ in 2016.

In February 2017, Kodak Black released the song ‘Tunnel Vision’ which ranked 27 and peaked at 6, becoming his first single to reach the top 10 hit mark in the US Billboard Hot 100 and reach number 17 in the Canadian Hot 100. Kodak Black released his debut studio album titled ‘Painting Pictures’ in March 2017 which reached the rank 3 in Billboard 200 and sold about 71,000 copies in its first week, a record yet again for Kodak Black.
