‘Kyokou Suiri’ started off with a great hook and otakus are already starting to rave about it everywhere. Judging from its pilot episode, it is clearly going to be a lot more than a typical romance anime. And since it’s already starting to show a lot of potential, let’s just hope that it will eventually get the attention that it deserves from the anime community. With that said, here is everything you need to know about its next episode.
Kyokou Suiri Episode 2 Release Date: When will it premiere?
Produced by Brain’s Base Studio, ‘Kyokou Suiri’ premiered on January 12, 2020 and its first season will have a total of 12 episodes. The second episode of the anime, titled “What the Guardian Serpent Heard”, is scheduled for a release on January 19, 2020.

Kyokou Suiri Episode 1 Recap
Kotoko Iwanaga, the main character of the series, is a young girl who walks briskly with slight limp. She spots Kurou Sakuragawa, a college student, from a distance and goes up to him to remind him how she “saved his life” two years ago. When he fails to recall who she is, she recites a two-year-old incident where she had saved him from tripping on the floor of a hospital. After he is able to recollect who she is, she shamelessly asks him if he would like to date him now that his girlfriend has broken up with him. When asks her how she knows about it, she tells him that she has been in love with him for two years now and has been persistently waiting for him to break up with his girl.
He then tells her all about the incident that led to their break up. Apparently, during one of their trips to Kyoto, he and his girlfriend had encountered a deadly Kappa. But instead of attacking them, the Kappa was terrified after seeing them and it just fled away from there. After this incident, his girlfriend started wondering who he really is and eventually broke up as his presence now scared her.
Kotoko also tells him all about her story. She recalls how, at the age of 11, she was abducted by youkai for two weeks and was asked to become their “God of Wisdom.” The youkai wanted someone to act as a mediator between them and the human world and she seemed to be the only person worthy of the position. Kotoko had agreed to their offer and in return, she had to sacrifice her right eye and left leg.
The next day, Kotoko meets Kurou right outside the library and asks him if he believes that she is the “God of Wisdom.” Kurou still seems a little skeptical about it but he starts believing her after a strange creature approaches her outside the library and asks her for help. Turns out that the library’s “barrier” has been broken and a very powerful youkai has entered the human realm.
Kotoko asks Kurou for help and though he seems a little reluctant about it, he decides to give it a shot. When they enter the library, they find a huge monstrous youkai there who tries to attack them. With an unfazed look on his face, Kurou just stands there when the monster rips his arm off and eats it. This poisons the youkai and he explodes in a matter of seconds. In the final moments of the episode, Kurou asks him who he is and with an evil smirk on his face, he tells her that when he was kid, he started eating youkai meat once and just couldn’t stop after that.
