The upcoming psychological thriller ‘Ma’ features Octavia Spencer in a never seen before role of a reclusive woman living alone in a small Ohio town, reports Variety. The plot revolves around Sue Ann ‘Ma’ (played by Spencer), who befriends the new teenager in town, Maggie (played by Diana Silvers), and her pals. Despite the age gap, they become close as Maggie and her friends find Ma’s basement to be a perfect hangout place for weekend booze parties. But as the parties repeat every weekend, Ma finds it extremely difficult to let go of her teen friends. Soon, the party turns out to be a nightmare for the students.
Luke Evans plays the role of one of the teens’ dads named Ben in the movie. Ben confronts Ma after following a tracking device on his son’s car to find out the secret weekend party house. Juliette Lewis plays Maggie’s mother Erica in the movie. The other cast members include McKaley Miller, Missi Pyle and Corey Fogelmanis. The movie is directed by Tate Taylor from a screenplay he co-wrote with Scotty Landes. ‘Ma’ is slated for a May 31, 2019 release.
7. Murder Mystery (2019)
Luke Evans will be seen alongside Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler in the Netflix comedy ‘Murder Mystery.’ The plot follows a New York City cop Nick Spitz (played by Sandler) and his wife Audrey Spitz (played by Aniston), reports THR. The couple plans to go for their long-gestating holiday trip to Europe. But a chance encounter with a mysterious man named Charles Cavendish (played by Evans) on the plane takes them to a private family get-together of billionaire Malcolm Quince. The gala reunion is set on a luxury yacht. Everything goes in grandeur until Quince is murdered and the couple finds themselves cornered as the prime suspects. ‘Murder Mystery’ is directed by Kyle Newacheck, who is known for ‘Game Over, Man!,’ from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt of ‘White House Down.’ The movie is scheduled for a June 14, 2019 release.
6. Anna (2019)
Director Luc Besson’s upcoming action flick ‘Anna’ stars Helen Mirren, Luke Evans, Cillian Murphy, and debutante Sasha Luss. The plot reportedly centers on the deceptive beauty Anna Poliatova (played by Sasha), who hides the strength and skill of one of the world’s most dangerous assassins under her charms. The fashion model-turned-assassin is assigned to a highly confidential mission in Paris by her boss (played by Helen Mirren). But she realizes that the mission is not what it seems as soon as she set foot in the dangerous turf of killers, defectors and corrupt politicians. According to Deadline, Luke Evans plays a key role in the movie; however, the details of the film are still under wraps. Besson wrote the script and also produces the film. It is lined up for a June 21, 2019 release.
5. Angel of Mine (2019)
Touted as a psychological thriller, ‘Angel of Mine,’ features Noomi Rapace and Luke Evans in the lead roles. The plot revolves around the untimely death of a little girl and her parents’ life after the tragedy. Lizzie (played by Rapace) and her ex-husband Mike (played by Evans) are still struggling to cope up with the loss of their beloved daughter several years ago. Their desperate life is ignited when Lizzie becomes convinced that the daughter of a stranger (played by Strahovski) is her own. The intuition grows into an obsession which leads Lizzie to lose her touch with reality. The other cast includes Richard Roxburgh, Finn Little, Rob Collins, Tracy Mann, Pip Miller, and Rachel Gordon. ‘Angel of Mine’ is directed by Kim Farrant from a screenplay by Luke Davies, who is known for ‘Lion,’ and David Regal. The movie hits theaters on August 30, 2019.
4. Midway (2019)
The World War II drama ‘Midway’ features Luke Evans as Lieutenant Commander Wade McClusky, who spearheaded a heroic aerial attack during the Battle of Midway in 1942. The attack turned the course of World War II in the Pacific theater in favor of the Americans while the Japanese side lost two crucial fleet carriers. The operation became a milestone in the war history of the U.S. as it was carried out just six months after the embarrassing and painful blow on Pearl Harbor.
Later hailed as the Battle of Midway, the U.S. Navy defeated the Imperial Japanese Navy’s attacking fleet near Midway Atoll. The U.S. codebreakers’ contribution became crucial in the proactive strike. The attack caused the Japanese fleet a devastating blow on the face. The other cast includes Woody Harrelson, Dennis Quaid, Ed Skrein, and Mandy Moore. Harrelson reportedly plays the role of Admiral Chester Nimitz, who served as the commander of the Pacific Fleet at the time of the attack. ‘Midway’ is directed by Roland Emmerich from a screenplay by Wes Tooke. 3. Dreamland (2020)
Described as an opioid thriller, ‘Dreamland’ chronicles three lives and three storylines crisscrossing each other. The plot follows a drug trafficker Jake Kahane (played by Armie Hammer), an architect Claire Reimann (played by Evangeline Lilly) and a university professor Dr. Tyrone Brower (played by Gary Oldman). Kahane plots a multi-million Dollar smuggling operation between two lethal cartels in Canada and the U.S. Meanwhile, Reimann desperately tries to find her son’s links with the cartels while recovering from drug addiction. Dr. Brower comes to know some shocking truths about his employer, a drug company giant instrumental in releasing a non-addictive pain killer. Luke Evans plays the key role of a pharmaceutical executive who finds himself at the center of full-fledged drug underworld. ‘Dreamland’ is written and directed by Nicholas Jarecki. The movie is expected to release in 2020.

2. StarDog and TurboCat (2019)
The upcoming family animation feature ‘StarDog And TurbCcat’ has Luke Evans, Bill Nighy and Gemma Arterton in the voice cast. Evans voices the vigilante super-cat named Felix whose owner goes missing under suspicious circumstances. He teams up with the loyal dog and best friend Buddy (voiced by Nick Frost) to track down his missing owner. ‘StarDog and TurboCat’ is written and directed by Ben Smith. 1. The Angel of Darkness (TBA)
‘The Angel of Darkness’ is the sequel series to the 2018 TNT limited show ‘The Alienist.’ The upcoming series is based on the sequel novel of the same name by Caleb Carr. ‘The Alienist’s lead actors Daniel Bruhl, Luke Evans and Dakota Fanning reportedly return for the new series. Set in the New York of 1897, Dr. Laszlo Kreizler (played by Daniel Brühl), the forensic psychiatry genius who hunts down the ruthless serial killer John Beecham in ‘The Alienist,’ reunites with his team of experts to rescue the kidnapped infant daughter of a Spanish diplomat. The series assembles all the Dr. Kreizler team members including crime reporter John Schuyler Moore (played by Luke Evans), Sara Howard (played by Dakota Fanning), and the detective brothers Marcus and Lucius Isaacson (played by Douglas Smith and Matthew Shear). The investigation leads them straight to the trap of the angel of darkness. Though there is no word yet on the premiere date, TNT is expected to air ‘The Angel of Darkness’ in 2020, reports Collider.
