Magia Record Madoka Magica Episode 4 Recap

In the 4th episode of ‘Magia Record’, a new character named Yui Tsuruno is introduced, who is a waitress at a Chinese restaurant. In the meantime, Iroha is later sent to Tsuruno by the coordinator who hopes that she might be able to get some leads on her missing sister. Tsuruno warmly welcomes her by giving her tonnes of food and bugs her with her usual rants. The two of them then meet Yachiyo and talk all about rumors surrounding Iroha’s sister. This is when the anime introduces a temple where people can pray and re-unite with the people that haven’t met in a long time. Even the circumstances of parting between the two people don’t seem to matter at all. Yachiyo then explains that the “Seance Shrine” is quite infamous for making people disappear.

Then they finally decide to draw a connection with the shrine to figure out how it truly works. Turns out that a woman who runs the shrine sacrifices people to the shrine god. Yachiyo explains that miracles always come with a brutal price by highlighting how the shrine grants wishes and at the same time, even devours people. Later in the episode, when Iroha tells others that she misses her sister because she never really had any other friends, Yachiyo reacts to it by calling her “a prisoner of her past.”

After leaving the shrine, they head to the grocery store and Yachiyo treats the grocery just like she treats normal humans. Soon after this, they return to the shine again and things take a grim turn. They enter a strange world that brims with mysterious bridges and shrine gates and to everyone’s surprise, Iroha does manage to find what she’s looking for. But as we’ve learned from all the other installments of the Mahou Shoujo franchise, nothing is ever as simple as it seems. Iroha might have found Ui but there’s probably something more sinister waiting for her in the shadows.
