Mairimashita! Iruma-kun Season 2 is Confirmed. Here are the Details.

‘Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun’ starts off like any other generic anime. It introduces us to an ordinary school-going character, Iruma Suzuki, who is often looked down upon by the world around him. But one day, Iruma’s life takes a surprising turn when his own parents sell him to a demon and he is forced to go and live in the demon world with his new guardian. Although his new grandad is really good to him, the big problem is that humans and demons don’t gel well. So in order to survive in this new realm, Iruma is expected to keep his human identity a secret to avoid getting eaten by demons.

As dangerous as this may sound for Iruma, this often leads to several hilarious moments where Iruma and his guardian try their best to cover-up the young boy’s secret and at the same time, Iruma tries to have fun in his new environment. With this, his not-so-ordinary adventure begins. Apart from having an intriguing storyline and also some memorable characters, the anime’s main appeal lies in its universal comedy that is suitable for all demographics. And not to mention, even its overall world-building is quite impressive. So if you haven’t watched it yet, you’re seriously missing out on one gem of a show. For those who have already completed its first season, here’s everything you need to know about its season 2.

Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Season 2 Release Date: When will it premiere?

‘Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun’ season 1 premiered on October 5, 2019 and finished airing on March 7, 2020 with a total of 23 episodes. Despite having a very simple storyline and widely familiar fantasy themes, the anime has been very well received by the anime community because of its unique comedy and vibrant cast of characters. And because of its lack of fan service, the anime is suitable for all ages. The good news for all the fans of the show is that its second season has already been confirmed. ‘Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun’ season 2 is scheduled to release sometime in April 2021. Check out the tweet below in which NHK Entertainment confirms the anime’s return in Spring 2021.

Like the first season, we can expect Bandai Namco Pictures to animate the second season as well. Director Makoto Moriwaki, also known for his work in ‘Yuri! On Ice,’ is again helming the project and Kazuyuki Fudeyasu is handling the overall composition of the series. From what we know about its source material, although the first season of the anime uses a lot of filler content to slow down its pace, it still manages to cover 5 volumes of the original manga.

Fortunately, the manga has almost 10 more volumes left for adaptation and is also still in publication. So a lack of source material will certainly not be a problem for the creators of the anime. And because of this availability of content, we can expect season 2 to be a two-cour season. This means that it will have a total of 23-25 episodes with each having a runtime of about 23 minutes.

To celebrate the announcement of the second season, mangaka, Osamu Nishi, also featured a special visual on his twitter account. Check it out below:
