Maury Povich was born on January 17, 1939, in Washington, D.C to Ethyl and Shirley Povich. He attended Landon School in the year 1957 and then graduated with a degree in Television journalism from the University of Pennsylvania in the year 1962. Maury Povich is a television presenter. He got his first job as a reporter after graduation in Washington, D.C radio station WWDC. He became a sportscaster and news reporter by the year 1996 for D.C. television station WTTG-TV. He later went on to become the original co-host of WTTG-TV’s famous midday show Panorama which gave him national recognition.

Maury Povich later worked as a news anchor at the stations located in Philadelphia, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago and New York from the years 1977 to 1983. He hosted the show “A Current Affair” in New York which began in July 1986. The show was critically acclaimed as the show was informative and entertaining as well. He hosted the show until the year 1990. He worked as the president of the National Television Academy’s New York chapter for two conservative terms. He hosted the show “The Maury Povich Show” which was distributed in partnership by MoPo Productions and Paramount Domestic Television between the years 1991 to 1998. Rudolph Giuliani, New York City Mayor honored Maury Povich in 1995 for helping to raise awareness of the National Adoption Month.

In the year 1998, the show “The Maury Povich Show” was taken over by Studios USA and was renamed as “Maury.” In the year 1998, the show was known for its segment called as “Who’s the Daddy?” in which the men who denied or tried to develop paternity were asked to give a DNA test and the results of the test were revealed on the show.

Maury Povich hosted the game show “Twenty One” on January 9, 2000, which was aired on NBC. In November 2005, it was announced by MSNBC that Maury Povich would co-host a show along with his wife Connie Chung. The show was titled “Weekends with Maury and Connie” and made its debut on January 7, 2006. However, due to low ratings, the show was later canceled. On June 17, 2006, the show’s last episode aired on television.
