McMillions Episode 5 Recap:

As the series heads towards an ending, we see how methodical the FBI had been in collecting evidence. They coordinated with McDonald’s security, the Shamrock Productions sting was a success, and they actually caught Jacobson exchanging a winning game piece with Dwight Baker.

We are also given a sense of how the winners reacted to the interrogation, as well as key players like Robin Colombo, Jacobson, and Glomb. The current episode starts by telling us how McDonald’s pulled their deal with Simon Marketing, a large enough company to be globally traded on the stock market. When the FBI started investigating, the company went under.

However, the episode raises two important questions. One is how Jacobson got his hand on the winning pieces, and the other is about the identity of the informant. However, with the key players not willing to open up about how Jacobson got his hands on it, the focus shifts to lapses in the Dittler Brother’s printing operation and their security measures.

The identity of the informant is a wholly different game. Obviously the docuseries teases that it knows more than it is letting on. However, we know that the informant remains unknown, so it will be a guess at best. Frank Colombo is quick to ascertain that the entire discovery of the sprawling fraud has been possible simply due to the informant. Robin is definitely not one to mince her words. She comes out and states that Frank must have been the informant all along.

It is important to note that Robin and Frank are not on the best of terms, so the accusations should be taken with a pinch of salt. That being said, ‘McMillions’ is drawing to a good conclusion, having systematically explored the fraud from various angles, to show what the fallout has been, and the parties that have been affected.
