How did Mel B earn her money and wealth?

Mel B is a singer, songwriter, actress as well as a television personality who is from England. She was born Melanie Janine Brown on May 9, 1975, in Harehills, Leeds. She attended Intake High School where she studied performing arts before foraying into the entertainment industry. She has worked as a dancer for a while in Blackpool, Lancashire.

Mel B began her professional career as a singer when she joined the band “Touch”. She responded to an advertisement in The Stage magazine in 1994 along with Geri Halliwell, Mel C, and Victoria Beckham. The auditions for almost 400 women took place at Dance works Studios in Mayfair, London. They were selected along with Emma Bunton and formed a quintet band called the “Spice Girls”. Since the band was uncomfortable without a contract and lack of direction of Heart management, they broke up with them. They traveled to London and Los Angeles and met with other record labels and finally decided to sign a deal with Virgin Records. “Spice” was the debut album for Spice Girls and peaked at number one in more than 17 countries. It was a commercial hit and was certified multi-platinum in 27 countries. It included hit singles “2 Become 1”, “Say You’ll Be There”, “Mama” and “Who Do You Think You Are”. “Spice World”, their second album was released in 1997 and sold more than 20 million copies worldwide. The band starred in “Spiceworld: The Movie”, their own film which grossed $100 million worldwide. It was also the second most watched movie of 1997. Their third album “Forever” was released in 2000.

After the breakup of the Spice Girls, Brown focused on her solo singing career. She covered “Word Up” by Cameo which charted poorly. She has appeared on television and one of her first appearances was as a host of “Pure Naughty”, a weekly BBC2 magazine show which focused on black music. She has co-hosted the MOBO Awards twice in 1998 and 1999. She released “Hot”, her debut album in     November 2000. The album included hit singles “Tell Me”, “Feels So Good” and “Lullaby”. Her next album “LA State of Mind” was released in 2005.

Brown ventured into acting with “Burn It” (2003) and followed it up with “The Vagina Monologues”, “The Seat Filler” (2004) and “Rent”. She was the host of “Dance Your Ass Off” from 2010. She also became a judge of the Australian version of “The X Factor” from 2010. She was also one of the judges in “Australia’s Got Talent” in 2013 but was replaced by Geri Halliwell later.

Brown in the summer of 2012 reunited with the other Spice Girls and performed at the closing ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Brown has written her autobiography which she titled “Catch a Fire” in 2002. Brown has been married twice and divorced both times. She has three daughters whom she has named Phoenix Chi Gulzar, Angel Iris Murphy Brown, and Madison Brown Belafonte.
