How did Misty Copeland earn her money and wealth?
Misty Copeland was born on September 10 in 1982. She is a ballet dancer for American Ballet Theatre (ABT), which is one of the three top classical ballet companies in the United States. Copeland was considered a genius who rose to stardom in spite of not beginning ballet until she was 13. In 1998, her ballet teachers, who were attending her as custodial guardians, and her mother, fought a custody battle over her. In the meantime, Copeland, who was already an award-winning dancer, was catching professional offers.
In 1997, Copeland won the Music Center Spotlight Award in Los Angeles for the best dancer in Southern California. Copeland has also written two autobiographies and directed a documentary about her career obstacles and what she has achieved so far in, A Ballerina’s Tale. In 2015, she was listed by the Time magazine under one of the 100 most influential people in the world, featuring on its cover. In the same year, she was also named the Glamour’s Women of the Year and listed in one of the 10 most fascinating people of 2015.
Copeland also starred in many television shows including A Day in the Life and So You Think You Can Dance. She has also performed in On the Town on Broadway, traveled around as a featured dancer for Prince and starred on the reality television shows So You Think You Can Dance and A Day in the Life. She is the brand ambassador for many products and companies such as T-Mobile, Dr. Pepper, Coach, The Dannon Company, Inc., Seiko, and Under Armour.
In 2014, Copeland released a biography, Life in Motion: An Unlikely Ballerina, which is co-authored by Charisse Jones. In 2015, Copeland became the first ever Afro-American woman to be endorsed to principal dancer in the 75 years history of ABT. Copeland married attorney Olu Evans in 2016. Copeland won an Award for Best in Dance in Social Media in 2016.
