How did Mohamed Hadid earn his money and wealth?
Mohamed Hadid is a self-made man who built his career as a real estate developer in Los Angeles and California. He is of Palestinian origin who was born on 6 November 1948 at Nazareth. He moved to the United States when he was 14 years old and went on to study at North Carolina State University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Hadid holds a dual Jordanian-American citizenship and does not consider himself a devout Muslim. Interestingly, although he does not drink alcohol, he owns a 5,000 bottle wine cellar and a Beverly Hills winery.
After Hadid first started his career by exporting equipment to the Middle East and also restoring classic cars before selling them in Washington DC’s Georgetown Area. He opened a nightclub in Greece’s Rhodes Island with whose profits he came back to the United States and started developing real estate. Hadid faced as many as 30 lawsuits through defaults in his ventures. In 1992 he lost his home due to foreclosure and closed his office in McLean and moved away from the Washington area. He later moved to Los Angeles and developed a mansion in Bel Air called La Belvedere which he sold for $50 million. He also developed The Crescent Palace, next door to the Beverly Hills Hotel in 2012 and sold it for $58 million. The interiors of the Crescent Palace are unbelievable which includes a 40 person movie theatre, 3800 square foot roof garden, an art gallery, a library, 5000 bottle wine cellar and 11 bedrooms. Criminal charges were leveled upon Hadid in December 2015 by the Los Angeles city council due to him violating local zoning laws. He pleaded guilty in May 2017 and was sentenced to community service and fines.
Hadid has an athletic side to him as well. During the 1992 Winter Olympics, he represented Jordan as a 43-year-old in the demonstration sport of speed skiing. He was the only member of the delegation for Jordan and participated upon the encouragement of his friend, Franz Weber, an Austrian Olympic skier. Hadid is the only person who has represented Jordan in the Winter Olympics.
Hadid has a passion for cars and has collected a formidable collection of cars for himself. His latest toy is a 3 wheeled Morgan which has a twin filter engine that rockets up to 60 miles per hour in 4.5 seconds. Hadid has made many appearances on television shows such as “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”, “Shahs of Sunset” and “Second Wives Club”. His attest appearance is in ‘Second Wives Club” in 2017.
Hadid has married twice and divorced. He was married to Mary Butler with whom he had two daughters, Alana and Marielle Hadid. He later married Yolanda Hadid and had three children with her: Gigi, Bella and Anwar Hadid who are all coincidentally supermodels. He became engaged to Shiva Safai in 2014 who is apparently 33 years younger to Hadid.
